A pallet of hair dryers. In the middle, one layer of little white boxes. πŸ‘‡

Tom opened them up and it was a thousand Apple TV cables. Retail was $59.99. He listed them on eBay at $30 and sold all thousand in two days.

He didn't call the guy he bought it from to give the money back either. Same way you don't get a refund when a load comes in bad, as long as it was described right.

You buy enough loads, you hit some home runs. What's the best thing you ever found buried in a pallet? πŸ‘€

We dumped a few of the electronics boxes into the bins yesterday. This is what 30 to 50 pieces actually looks like spread out. πŸ‘‡

Robot mops. A gas lantern. PS4 gaming headsets with the boom mic. A VR headset. Smart watches with the 2.19 inch display. Outdoor sirens. Handheld vacuums. Neck fans. Karaoke machines with two mics. Portable speakers. Desk lamps. Aroma diffusers. Air cooler fans.

All of it brand new in retail packaging. Every box is a different mix, so what you see here is not a manifest, it's just what came out of ours.

$350 a box, 30 to 50 pieces, shipping included anywhere in the continental US. No freight terminal, no liftgate, it shows up at your door.

Tom Shultz on the podcast, on bad loads vs getting scammed πŸ‘‡

"I've been scammed three or four times in my life. But buying bad loads, I bought hundreds. Hundreds of loads that weren't worth the money, hundreds of loads that I lost money on. But as a large consumer of truckloads, I have to keep buying, because what I'm doing is I'm searching for the good loads. I might buy five loads or ten loads and only one of them is a good load. But when I find that load, I buy the hell out of that load."

There's a difference in scamming and getting just a bum load. It is liquidation for a reason. If it showed up the way it was described, you take it on the chin and keep pushing.

What's the worst load you ever bought that wasn't a scam? πŸ‘€

Who actually shops a bin store? Not who most people think. πŸ‘‡

It is not poor people. It is price conscious people, and those are two completely different customers.

His line on it: when I had no money I was a bargain shopper, and now that I have money I am still a bargain shopper. That doesn't change. It bothers me to pay retail.

If you have been marketing your store like a discount outlet for people who are short on cash, you are talking to the wrong person.

Everybody says the bin store model is dead. It isn't. πŸ‘‡

The ones failing are undercapitalized and too small. If you run 20 bins and need 12 pallets a week, you are not a real buyer to anybody. So you spend every week doing what he calls the scramble, calling around asking who has something, and eventually you buy the load nobody else wanted and lose money on it.

Then you do it again the next week.

It is not the concept. It is buying power.

Bought a pallet of junk? Here's what to do with it. πŸ‘‡

First, be honest about whether it's junk or just not what you expected. Those are different problems.

If it's genuinely bad, stop trying to win. Sell it as a lot, take the loss, bank the lesson and move. The money you lose sitting on it for six months costs more than the write-off.

What was on your worst pallet? πŸ‘€

Ask your supplier this one before you wire anything: can you afford this load if it goes bad? πŸ‘‡

There is no barrier to entry on being a broker. Anybody can screenshot a Target truck, mark it up a few grand and post it. The question is whether they have the money sitting there if that load shows up wrong or never shows up at all.

Most of the people who get burned didn't get scammed exactly. They bought from somebody who couldn't afford to make it right.

Get the answer before the money moves.

Before you break down a pallet, do you know your actual breakeven number?

Here is how to calculate it fast:
1. Total pallet cost + shipping/pickup expenses

2. Subtract estimated throwaways or broken items (typically 10-15%)

3. Divide remaining cost by sellable items

What percentage of unsellable inventory do you budget for on unmanifested loads?

I'm trying to build up the YouTube channel and I want to do it by actually helping people get into liquidation.

Pallets are where most people get their start. That's where the questions are and that's where new sellers get burned. I want to make content around that.

First episode is at Takeoff Wholesale here in GA. Pierce agreed to let us film there. I'm looking for one person who's new to pallets, maybe you've bought one or two and you're still figuring out what to buy and how to sell it.

Here's what you'd be signing up for:

- You come out to Takeoff for filming. One day, we'll set the date with you.
- We walk the warehouse together and talk through how you sell (Marketplace, Whatnot, bin store, wherever you sell) so we pick the right kind of pallet for you.
- Pierce gives his take on what sells and what to stay away from.
- You pick a pallet. I'm buying!
- We break it down on camera item by item and figure out what it's worth.
- A couple weeks later we do a quick follow-up call to see what you sold it for.

You'll be on camera and it goes up on YouTube. If you're good with that, fill out the form. Not doing this through DMs or comments.
