The past few weeks in Philadelphia has reminded me that we are shaped by the spaces we inhabit and the histories we engage.

For Black History Month, I celebrate the gifts of the ancestors who left behind sacred spaces to gather, to think, and to heal. I am most grateful for the histories and archives that have been maintained across various institutons that helps us reimagine freedom for the next generation.

Our future is built on what we choose to remember and carry forward.

Leadership is not proven in moments of comfort, but in seasons that demand steadiness, restraint, and clarity.

On this Presidents Day, I’m reflecting on the kind of leadership our communities need the most. It's not about the louder voices, but grounded ones. Not performative strength, but disciplined compassion.

May we all lead with integrity wherever we are called in our homes, our institutions, our communities, and our faith.

Steadiness is leadership.

Two days before my 40th birthday, I’m choosing to be brave. It took me a while to share this, but here we are.

I’ve been taking some intentional time away to heal, breathe, regather, and finish some goals.

I don’t have everything figured out.
But I do have a deeper respect for what it means to listen to my heart.

The Pause ( ) is a reflection created after the celebrations ended.

When the noise quieted, real emotions surfaced.
This isn’t about pretending strength.
It’s about honoring where you are and moving forward honestly.
If you’re still becoming… you’re not late.

You’re alive.
This is the pause.

And today, I’m using it.

Drop the word "pause" in the comments if this resonates with you. I will be sure to mention your name in my next contemplative prayer session.

Today, I was honored to be inducted into the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College of Ministers & Laity at Morehouse College. This ceremony came at the right time as I am pushing toward the mark in this major milestone in my academic and vocational journey.

The presence of the ancestors and witness of Morehouse's legacy to engage justice, learning, and moral courage has impacted my worldview.

Leadership is sacred and holy work. Our capacity to envision a more liberated, loving, and life-affirming world begins with the courage to construct the beloved community amid a society often marked by hyper-individualism, moral fragmentation, and collective amnesia.

I carry this moment as a renewed call to partner with leaders and organizations seeking to cultivate cultures that are courageous, inclusive, and transformative. My mission now centers on helping leaders align values with vision.

Honored. Grateful. Revived

SUMMER REFLECTION

August marks the end of a transformative year of learning, building, and embracing new experiences.

I led the development of ASPIRE 2025 with a new team in a new city, new state, and new region, carrying forward our 8-year legacy in South Carolina.

For the past 20 years, I've explored what it means to be a learner and leader, now developing language around our design approaches. I'm grateful for every session, moment, and project reflecting inclusion and growth.

This year’s success was a collaborative victory driven by brilliant minds and shared vision. Thank you to all who made ASPIRE 2025 a vibrant display of faith and transformation.

Watch the recap video to experience the energy and community that made this year unforgettable.

ASPIRE 2025 was a transformative learning experience. Designed with Afrocentric, intergenerational, and responsible pedagogy, we created spaces where all ages could learn, reflect, and act together.

From interactive labs to quiet reflection corners, our learning design honored multiple intelligences and sacred curiosity. We didn’t just talk about the issues in our communities, we practiced resolving them together in real-time.

Leadership is more than just making decisions, setting agendas and delegating tasks. It is a responsibility to create sacred space for transformation.

I am embracing an attitude of joy as the center of my compass.

Grateful to have attended the Economic Inclusion Summit in Atlanta, GA, and to receive these incredible headshots from SQS Photography. This summit sponsored by OUT Georgia Business Alliance was a pivotal moment aligning with my research on economic equity and community development. As I step into a new phase of opportunity and growth, this event further affirmed my commitment to fostering inclusive opportunities and innovative solutions.

Here’s to new beginnings and continued impact!

Teens face new challenges today—social media and rising pressures make life harder. How can innovative, Afrocentric learning spaces support Black families and teens in navigating this digital age?

Is it harder being a teen today? Or do they have it easier than those of past generations? We asked parents and teens who say being a teenager has gotten harder or easier to explain in their own words why they think so.
