We so often see the images of individuals who have either been severely injured in sports competitions or horrific accidents or those born with physical limitations doing the strenuous work in physical therapy.
Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, they show up. Blood. Sweat. Tears. Repeat.
Each time they show up they are facing their difficulties. They are either attempting to overcome or to manage them more optimally.
It is the SAME for those who do the work day after day, month after month, year after year, sometimes decade after decade in emotional and mental therapy.
The work is JUST as demanding. And strenuous. And grueling. And it leaves people sweating and in tears. Sometimes in blood.
And wondering do they have the resolve to do this again. And again. And again.
I encourage those of you who are waking up this morning to engage the laborious work of mental and emotional therapy…
I SEE YOU.
I AM YOU.
Yes. It is HARD. It does HURT. It is HEAVY.
And yes, it is WORTH it!
In the moment, remind yourself it is FOR THE FUTURE.
Keep pressing. However that looks for you. Today you may need a lighter work. Or you may feel up to doing some of the “heavy-lifting”.
Either way - I remind you, I assure you, I encourage you - it is STRENUOUS. It is DIFFICULT.
You are wondering if it is worth it. You are wondering if there is any progress being made.
And that is part of the journey. It’s okay.
It’s all for the future.
I pray your resolve.
