What fills you? Really ask yourself this question. What REALLY fills you? Not just on the surface, but penetrates and refreshes your soul.

Maybe that refreshment is found in the simplest of acts. In the ordinary.

Taking a walk.

Holding the hand of a loved one.

Planting a flower.

Singing a song.

Fill in the blank.

Seek out to do what replenishes you. And will sustain you. And incorporate that into your life daily, if possible.

Make sure you keep your emotional and mental reservoirs filled.

We so often see the images of individuals who have either been severely injured in sports competitions or horrific accidents or those born with physical limitations doing the strenuous work in physical therapy.

Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, they show up. Blood. Sweat. Tears. Repeat.

Each time they show up they are facing their difficulties. They are either attempting to overcome or to manage them more optimally.

It is the SAME for those who do the work day after day, month after month, year after year, sometimes decade after decade in emotional and mental therapy.

The work is JUST as demanding. And strenuous. And grueling. And it leaves people sweating and in tears. Sometimes in blood.

And wondering do they have the resolve to do this again. And again. And again.

I encourage those of you who are waking up this morning to engage the laborious work of mental and emotional therapy…

I SEE YOU.

I AM YOU.

Yes. It is HARD. It does HURT. It is HEAVY.

And yes, it is WORTH it!

In the moment, remind yourself it is FOR THE FUTURE.

Keep pressing. However that looks for you. Today you may need a lighter work. Or you may feel up to doing some of the “heavy-lifting”.

Either way - I remind you, I assure you, I encourage you - it is STRENUOUS. It is DIFFICULT.

You are wondering if it is worth it. You are wondering if there is any progress being made.

And that is part of the journey. It’s okay.

It’s all for the future.

I pray your resolve.

New podcast episode!

Isaiah was instructed in Isaiah 30:8 to write “in their presence.” He was assigned the task of writing on the tablet the poor choices and rebellions of Judah.

And it was to be done “in their presence.”

Judah had to live with reading the accounts of their poor choices, unholy alliances, and lack of prayer and all of the consequences “forever and ever”.

When we journal about our life’s difficulties, our poor choices and ungodly alliances, that record is there “in our presence”.

How do we move forward with the constant reminders of our wrongdoings? We so often prefer to avoid dealing with these negativities.

Tune in to this episode to hear how reviewing these areas we rather avoid can set the stage for us to lessen the emotional impacts and change our behaviors to more positive and godly ones.

God’s mercy and compassion can be experienced in places of habituation and extinction.

New podcast episode!

Research has shown that writing is beneficial when facing difficult life experiences.

It is reported there is a reduction in rumination, a reduction in symptoms of avoidance, and a reduction in symptoms of anxiety.

In this episode, we see where Isaiah was instructed by God “to write it on a tablet”. God wanted Isaiah to write down the rebellious acts of Judah.

God declared the choices they made were not sanctioned by Him. He also pointed out how Judah did not want to hear the messages from the prophets.

Tune in to this episode to see how God pronounced judgment on Judah, and yet offered a word of redemption.

We can find encouragement that as we confess and journal our acts of disobedience, God can meet us with His mercy and compassion in some unique and unknown ways.

To my sisters, to whom I am related, intertwined with in the family born as those chosen by God Himself, the Master Creator, with various shades of the darker hues among humankind. Created and chosen to be Woman by God Himself.

When we see God face-to-face, we will see ourselves, as we are made in the image of OUR FATHER.

There is a resemblance we bear. We look like HIM. We do not have to wonder to whom we belong. No test of paternity is needed.

It is to you, I say these three points. I have been disturbed by what I hear and see.

And because there is a collective weariness, I won’t belabor what we hear and read repeatedly.

I just want to dismantle some stuff:

1. Black women do die by su***de.

2. Black women do NOT have to feel compelled to step into the complicated role of “savior”.

3. We really need to understand how constantly hearing the term “strong black woman” could be subliminally and adversely impacting our overall well-being.

That’s it.

No, that’s not it.

God LOVES you. BEST!

That’s it.

“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

Leaving is more than a change in geographical location.

Leaving has to be done well in order for any type of “cleaving” to be healthy.

There are many areas that have to be considered - emotional, mental, spiritual, and relational.

When we leave we take some things with us and we leave some things behind.

How is your life being impacted by what you have taken? By what has been left? By that which you are unaware either way?

Let’s discuss what leaving involves.
