The Enterprise Systems Engineer serves as systems engineer for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) for implementation and maintenance of enterprise IT systems, with a special focus on system maintenance and management. Position is on-site at the customer location in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities include:
• Serves as the lead worker, technical expert, systems administrator, and engineer for systems in an
integrated enterprise environment
• Manages and supports systems with an attached SAN environment and Oracle back end
• Writes and executes scripts and actively participates in the design, development and implementation of
highly complex systems and applications in accordance with Authority goals and objectives
• Implements backup policies in accordance with enterprise data capture and recovery program
• Implements and maintains system products and configurations and makes recommendations to ensure
that the system has a solid best practices-based architecture and configuration in place
• Performs essential system administration tasks daily to ensure systems are performing efficiently
• Provides 2/3 tier production support
• Provides after hours production support on a rotational basis
• Configures, maintains, tunes and upgrades systems components in addition to installing operation system
and hardware components for enterprise server farms and systems administration
• Document system environment using industry standard system documentation tools
• Manages clustering and high-availability environments
• Manages multi-vendor software systems
• Install new systems as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
General requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information systems, Computer Science, Mathematics,
Engineering, or other related technical discipline
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience, experience may be substituted
on a year-for-year basis in lieu of educational requirements
• Industry certification in implementing and maintaining production enterprise systems,
UNIX/LINUX, or MCSE strongly preferred
• Experience in utilizing operating system utilities, configuring hardware, using various
backup utilities, performing operating system tuning (kernel), managing clustering
and high-availability environments, and writing and executing scripts
• A working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols and network design
• Be able to develop and manage project plans for multiple high-profile projects
