Today I celebrate The most FABULOUS, BOLD, AND OUTSPOKEN Fashion Icon
Andre Leon Talley.
Born October 16 1948 passed away January 18, 2022, Andre broke barriers in fashion as an African-American Fashion Journalist, Stylist, Creative Director, Author and Editor At Large of Vogue Magazine. Andre was the Magazines fashion news director from 1983-1987. Vogues first African-American male creative director from 1988-1995, and Editor at Large from 1998-2013. We can’t forget Andre as a judge on America’s Next Top Model (cycle 14-17) Andre always supported emerging designers, advocating for diversity in all areas of the fashion industry. An Author of 3 books (Little Black Dress, A.L.T. : A Memoir and , The Chiffon Trenches, Landing on the New York Times Best Seller List. Andre paired and collaborated with Designers, Tracey Reese, and Rachel Roy, with artist Andy Warhol, worked with and for Interview, Women’s Wear Daily, W, and Ebony Magazine’s. Andre is Known for styling such icons as Jennifer Hudson, Barack & Michelle Obama Andre also was known for his own personal style of wearing capes, kaftans, and robes. Recently honored at SCAD in Atlanta where he was on the board of trustees. A BOLD fashion Icon who has made a mark that will never be erased. Andre is Black History.
