I'll be honest, I've read the same AI headlines you have this week, and I'm still sitting with them.

The people who built these systems are telling each other to slow down. The people funding the chips are calling that a hoax. Both sides sound completely certain. Neither is in the room when you're making the actual call for your team.

I've led through enough of these moments to know the discomfort doesn't mean you're doing it wrong; it means you're paying attention.

Here's what I know to be true. You don't need the industry to agree before you can lead through this moment. You need to know what you're building toward, and what doesn't move no matter how fast everything else does. For me, that's cybersecurity. Not a speed limit. The floor everything else stands on.

The doubt, the delay, the room that wasn’t ready for you, none of it gets a vote in whether you keep moving.

I’ve learned the goal was never to avoid resistance. It’s to keep your stride through it.

Since leaving Google, I've advised founders across AI and cybersecurity trying to break into federal. The mistakes are always the same. Wait for the RFP to start selling. Hire a name instead of building a system. Add headcount before activating channel.

By the time a solicitation posts, the agency already knows who they want.
