Pregnant women living with substance use disorder (SUD) often encounter stigma when receiving care during their pregnancy. This can deter them from seeking medical care which can lead to negative health outcomes for them and their baby.

For our efforts supporting Perinatal Quality Collaboratives, Karna worked with maternal health experts who serve on our Maternal Health Advisory Network (MHAN) and our sister company JBS International, Inc. to develop resources for providers and healthcare workers to address stigma related to maternal SUD. Karna, in collaboration with the Association of Immunization Managers, developed an Immunization Coalition Toolkit to help program managers build and sustain these vital relationships. Evaluation Specialist Michael Hauer dives into creating the toolkit resources through formative research, including landscape analysis, listening sessions, and insights from leaders in California, South Dakota, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.

Community-based organizations (CBOs) are essential in advancing maternal and child health (MCH), especially in underserved and marginalized populations, given their experience, contextual understanding, trust, and reach. However, CBOs often have limited resources and capacity for their work.

To address this need, Karna is proud to be funded by CDC to provide capacity building assistance to MCH-focused CBOs. If you are a CBO working in the MCH space, we want to hear from you! Please complete our survey, which will help guide the development of our work.

To take part in the survey, visit: https://okt.to/yPuBwK
The survey closes November 29.
