The Applied Bioinformatics Laboratory (ABiL) has developed STing, a novel computational algorithm for rapid and accurate genomic profiling. This algorithm is orders of magnitude faster than contemporary methods for genome analysis. This increased speed will bring improvements in the diagnosis of cancer, genetic diseases, and antibiotic resistant infections, stimulating the development of genomic approaches to healthcare.
ABiL, established in 2014, is a public - private partnership between the Bioinformatics Graduate Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology and IHRC, Inc. ABiL's dedicated team of full-time bioinformatic scientists, with several decades of individual research experience, work collaboratively with partners from government, academic, and industry sectors to provide customized solutions for a variety of data analysis challenges. Being embedded within one of the country’s strongest bioinformatics graduate programs gives ABiL a tremendous advantage. Since 2014, ABiL has provided training for 992 public health officials at federal, state and academic institutions from across the country. ABiL also serves as the bioinformatics core facility at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
In 2017, ABiL passed an important milestone of $2 million in revenue including contracts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state public health laboratories, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and others. In just three years, ABiL has become a leader in the development of cutting edge bioinformatics solutions. IHRC has been appraised at level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)® for service (CMMI-SVC+SSD) and development (CMMI-DEV) projects. Our appraisal at maturity level 3 includes the Service System Development (SSD) process area, establishing IHRC as one of two 8(a) businesses listed in the CMMI Institute’s Published Appraisal Results database to obtain this differentiator as of February 2017. The appraisal at maturity level 3 confirms that our development, management and service delivery processes are well characterized and understood, and affirms that our standards, procedures, tools, and methods are effectively documented and executed. We recently introduced our Career Center to provide applicants with an optimized experience when viewing and applying to our open positions. Our new Career Center is responsive, resulting in an optimal user experience when browsing our open positions or submitting an application from different devices such as desktops, tablets and mobile phones. The new Career Center is integrated with Google Drive and Dropbox facilitating submission of documents that are part of the application process from internet connected devices. Additionally, the Career Center has a new stepwise application format, and provides the applicant with the option to save a draft of their application at each step, enabling them to return to complete their application at a later time. As was the case with our previous Careers Website, applicants can also set up “Job Alerts” to be automatically notified of new positions matching their interests.

The rapid growth of IHRC, Inc. over the past few years made it imperative that we expand our office space to keep up with the growth. For the past two years, we were scattered over 3 different floors in the same building. Fortunately, a larger space became available, and as of May 23rd, IHRC Corporate staff relocated to a consolidated 10,000+ square foot space. We are about 90% settled into our new suite on the 12th floor, Suite 1200, and we are excited to conduct our business from our new home.
