National Women's Checkup Day is a good time to remind women (them) to take care of themselves and their health by scheduling appointments with their health care providers. It is celebrated annually on the second Monday of May.
(This year May 8th)
Why?

It encourages a healthy lifestyle

Early detection of health issues

Identifies lifestyle risk factors

Promotes preventative care

Reduces healthcare costs (Detecting medical conditions early reduces the cost of treatment.)

The goal of regular health checks up are to find problems before they start!
Recommended health screenings depend on age, your past medical history and family history.
-Breast Cancer Early Detection
-Cervical Cancer Early Detection
-Cholesterol
-Diabetes
-Colorectal Cancer Screening
-Blood pressure
-Immunizations
-Skin Cancer
-Screening for Sexually Transmitted Infections
At your appointment, it is important to review your medical history and family history.

Call your OBGYN (primary care doctor 👩🏽‍⚕️) and schedule your appointment - well woman visit.🥰

NEVER BE LIMITED BY OTHER PEOPLE'S LIMITED IMAGINATIONS...IF YOU ADOPT THEIR ATTITUDES, THEN THE POSSIBILITY WON'T EXIST BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE ALREADY SHUT IT OUT...YOU CAN HEAR OTHER PEOPLE'S WISDOM, BUT YOU'VE GOT TO RE-EVALUATE THE WORLD FOR YOURSELF."

Men's Health Month serves to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Studies show that knowing their preventable risks, creating healthful habits (nutrition, taming stress, proper rest, mental health support), scheduling routine tests for early detection of diseases and documenting their family history and then sharing it with their physicians and ultimately having access to quality healthcare can aid in improving men’s health outcomes.

Office on Women’s Health, HHS checklists 📋

Taking Steps for a Healthier You
What steps can I take?
Start by reading the checklist created for women in their 20s-90s, and choose
to take one, or all, of the steps on the list. You can use your checklist to get
the conversation started at your next well-woman visit. A well-woman visit is a
yearly preventive checkup with your doctor. It's a time to check in … Put your health first.
Have you scheduled your this year?

🩺Women ages 21 through 29 should have a Pap test every 3 years. Women ages 30 through 65 should be screened with either a Pap test every 3 years or the HPV test every 5 years

🩺Women ages 40 to 49 may have a mammogram every 1 to 2 years.

🩺Women ages 50 to 75 should have a mammogram every 1 to 2 years.

🩺If you are age 45 to 75, you should be screened for colorectal cancer.

Mental and Emotional Health check🎗🖤 🥹

Repost from Dr. O• "Business as usual" rhetoric would have you return to work and take kids to school despite the tragedies constant around us. I am asking you to check in with yourself, you don't have to do it under this post. Note what you are feeling and give to yourself what you can in this time of need.

There are not enough coping skills in the world to live as we do, under constant duress. But here are a few things you can do, just the same.

1. STOP: as in, tell your job you just don't have it today. Take the day, the afternoon, or even the rest of the week, if you can

2. REST. enough said.

3. TAKE SPACE for your emotions. Whatever they are, however deeply or broadly you feel them. Allow them some space. Journal, cry, walk, dance, whatever you need to allow those emotions to move through you

4. GET OFF social media or stop watching the news. Being informed is nice, but not at the expense of your mental health and wellbeing.
