Took a little trip to Milton today to teach one to load who refused the trailer pretty good id say he is on the right path for success now. . Sometimes in order for some horses to get comfortable and understand that you aren’t out to hurt them it’s best to take that flight or fight away from them and lay them down in my opinion it is 2 type of approaches to this method and for good reason. The first method in which was used in this case was to softly lay him down on his side to be able to touch him from head to tail to relieve the tension of fear from human and restore some sort of trust that he’s not going to be harmed while in his most vulnerable position and it’s very important not cause any unwanted discomfort or pain while he’s in this position or it defeats the purpose. The 2nd option of this method would be only for the extremely disrespectful and harmful to humans type of horse and those type have to actually be thrown to their side multiple times until they basically are pushed to a certain level of submission then at that point it’s very important to remove all restraints and walk away from them to soak it all in and get up on their own and that steps needs to be repeated for at least 3 days in order for them to learn your strengths are far greater than it’s own.
