Picture this:
You wake up feeling grounded and powerful.
Instead of spiraling in overthinking, you move your body, feel your energy shift, and step confidently into your day.

I used to wake up trapped in my thoughts, weighed down by pain, fear, and doubt. But the day I chose to let my body lead, everything changed.

Movement quieted my mind and reconnected me with my purpose.

At IMARA Social Impact Academy, we teach purpose-driven African women leaders to build powerful businesses and movements from a place of wholeness and embodied confidence.

Imagine walking into rooms with your head high, your body strong, and your spirit unshakeable.

Queen, today, release the old stories keeping you stuck. Move your body. Move your energy. Move your life forward.

I remember a season in my life when everything on the outside seemed chaotic. Responsibilities were piling up, deadlines were overwhelming, and my dreams felt distant. I kept thinking, “If only I could fix this situation, then I would feel peace again.”

But one morning, as I sat quietly with my tea before the world woke up, I realized something profound. The peace I was seeking wasn’t hidden in achieving more or fixing every problem. It was right there within me, waiting for me to come home to myself.

Peace is not something I had to create. It’s what I am. It’s what you are too.

In that moment, I let go of the urge to control everything. I chose to slow down and simply be. From that place of being, the heaviness lifted. I found the strength to take one step at a time, without the noise of fear or doubt clouding my mind.

As an entrepreneur and as a human being, remember: you are not your worries, your deadlines, or your failures. You are the calm presence beneath it all.

Today, give yourself permission to pause. Breathe deeply. Savor the little joys – your child’s laughter, the aroma of your morning coffee, the warmth of the sun on your face.

Trust that what is meant for you will always find its way. Because when you are anchored in inner peace, life unfolds in its own beautiful, mysterious way.

There was a season in my life when everything felt painfully delayed.

This photo was taken in 2022, during my recovery after a long season of physical and mental illness. I had to stop working. I lost all my hair. Yet somehow, on this sunny day, I found a reason to smile again.

I remember sitting in my small apartment, holding my head in my hands after yet another door closed. I questioned myself deeply – my worth, my purpose, my direction. I had left behind the life I knew in pursuit of a vision I couldn’t fully explain to anyone.

But there was a quiet voice within me that refused to die.

It whispered, “Keep going. You will reach where you belong.”

I didn’t realize it then, but each rejection was preparing me to meet the right people. Each setback was molding my character. Each delay was saving me from misaligned paths.

With time, I began to see how life was guiding me towards true freedom – not just external success, but a deep sense of inner peace, knowing I was living in alignment with who I really am.

Looking back, I see that every hardship was a stepping stone to something greater. The people I met, the lessons I learned, the resilience I built – they were all gifts wrapped in painful packages.

If today you feel stuck or delayed, I want you to know:

You’re exactly where you need to be right now. You’ve done the best you could with what you had. Trust that life is handling the rest.

Tune into that inner knowing, the voice that refuses to die within you. It will guide you home to yourself.

Move forward with grace.

Because one day soon, you’re going to look around and realize:

You’re living in the beauty of everything you once prayed for – and you’re going to love what’s ahead.

📸 In this photo, I’m standing on a wooded path, wearing my African print jacket and purple sunglasses, radiating joy despite my struggles. This was the beginning of my comeback.

This morning, as I sat in quiet reflection before the world awoke, I thought about how many times I almost let my past define my future.

I remembered the days when I woke up feeling heavy with regrets, failures, and pain – the mistakes I made, the dreams I lost, the words that wounded me, and the opportunities I missed. I carried them like invisible stones in my heart, and each day felt like climbing a mountain with no summit.

But then came a season in my life when I had nothing left to lose. I was in my tiny student room in Rwanda, staring at the sunrise through a cracked window. I whispered to myself:

“Today, I choose to start again.”

It wasn’t an easy choice. My mind wanted to replay every painful memory. My heart wanted to hold on to the hurt. But something deeper within me – a quiet, stubborn hope – reminded me that I was still breathing, and that meant I still had purpose.

That morning, I set one simple intention: “Today, I will show up for life with gratitude.”

I didn’t know how the day would unfold. I only knew I wanted to step into it without the chains of yesterday pulling me back. I studied with focus. I helped someone who was struggling with their coursework. I smiled at strangers. I forgave myself for what I could not change.

Little by little, day by day, that small intention began to shift everything in me. The past became a teacher instead of a prison guard. Each sunrise became a gentle invitation to create something meaningful with my life.

And so, my friend, I want to tell you:

Start today with a clean slate.

You don’t have to be defined by what happened yesterday. You can choose a new thought, a new action, a new way of being. Let go of the weight that is holding you down. Set one simple, powerful intention for your day.

Because when you embrace this sense of renewal, your life will quietly begin to transform, just like mine did – one sunrise, one choice, one brave breath at a time.

🇷🇼Happy Independence Day Rwanda!

From a scared teen to an empowered pharmacist, lecturer, and women’s rights leader – Rwanda gave me roots and wings. Grateful for my university years, lifelong friends, and lessons that shaped who I am today. 💛

May your beauty and resilience continue to inspire Africa and the world.

At the gates of the National University of Rwanda,
I walked in with tear-stained fears and self-doubt,
Yet in your lecture halls and dormitory corners,
I found sisters like Carole and Edvine,
Best friends who held my broken pieces and sang me back to hope.
In your ancient libraries, among medicine books and pharmacology charts,
I found my voice as a scientist,
Crafting myself into a pharmacist with purpose.
Your professors sharpened my mind,
Your land healed my spirit.

Before my graduation gown even graced my shoulders,
You trusted me to serve –
In 2009, you placed me among giants on the Medicine Faculty,
Teaching, learning, growing until 2013,
Where I poured my knowledge back into your children,
An offering of gratitude for the life you birthed in me.

It was here, on your gentle hills and bustling campuses,
That I gathered courage to co-found
The first women-led organization for women living with HIV.
You, Rwanda, showed me
That the greatest leadership is birthed from pain transformed into purpose.

In your classrooms, I sat with powerful minds
During my Masters in Gender and Development,
Learning to dismantle systems of oppression
And reimagine a world where no woman is left behind.

Today, as you celebrate your independence,
Know that you birthed mine too.
Your resilience mirrors my own.
Your transformation fuels my life’s mission.
Your peace gave me a future.
Your soil grew me from a wounded girl into
An empowered woman, a global change-maker,
A mother, a healer, a fierce advocate for justice.

🇷🇼 Murakoze Rwanda. Thank you for giving me roots and wings.
Happy Independence Day to you, beloved land of a thousand hills.
May your sons and daughters always rise in dignity,
And may the world always marvel at your beauty,
Within and beyond your borders.

When bad things happen in our lives, maintaining hope seems like an exercise in futility.

It feels as though you're only lying to yourself or being delusional. However, being objective doesn't mean you have to lose hope.

Giving up hope will only invite more despair into your life. Allow yourself to be comforted by a sense of optimism

Sometimes hope is more about the present than the future. Hope makes your present more manageable.

It helps you to remain calm, do your best today, and trust that everything will be fine.

You do have the strength to hope. It's not all over yet. You don't have to feel down forever.
