Much needed rainfall came last week as much of the Southeast has been experiencing worsening drought conditions. Additional rainfall is expected across portions of the Southeast Wednesday through this weekend as a frontal boundary approaches and stalls near the Gulf Coast. Most areas will see another 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts of 3-5+ inches possible, particularly across Mississippi, and Alabama.

After a few weeks without any measurable rainfall, needed rain chances will finally return this week.

Scattered showers/storms Tuesday will become more widespread Tuesday night.

Scattered showers will continue to be possible through the day Wednesday, becoming more numerous into the overnight hours.

A passing cold front will bring slightly cooler and drier conditions to the area Thursday.

While cooler temperatures will persist into the weekend, another widespread rain threat could be possible Friday night into Saturday.

Rain and storm chances will increase Thursday evening into Friday as a cold front moves through the area. Some storms could be locally strong-severe, with main threats being strong winds and heavy rainfall.

High pressure over the region will keep warm and dry weather in place through Saturday.

Temperatures will average ~10 degrees above normal for mid April.

A cold front will approach the area Saturday night/early Sunday, but only a small chance for light isolated showers is expected ahead of this, if anything.

Unseasonably high moisture will combine with multiple disturbances to produce periods of heavy rainfall today through Thursday. NE winds will also increase during this time, gusting up to 35-45 MPH at times, particularly today into Wednesday.

A ridge of high pressure will build over the region Friday into the weekend, resulting in lower rain chances, more sunshine, and warmer daytime temperatures.

Greater shower coverage is expected Easter Sunday as a cold front moves through the state. Around 1/2 inch inch of rain is possible through the weekend, but could be locally more.

Temperatures will cool closer to average behind the front early next week.
