Thoroughly enjoyed my Mother's Day weekend, not least due to my daughter treating me to dinner at the new Thai tapas restaurant, Suea. I know, it's been a few days already, but I'm a busy woman lol

And this was a treat for all the senses. The space has been transformed into an intimate, exquisitely styled spot right around the corner from Laziza Mediterranean Grill in downtown Augusta.

From the decor to the menu, to the superb service, this place is bang on. I almost took a photo of the bathroom wallpaper, because even it's absolutely gorgeous. So grateful we made memories and shared some delicious food here! And so thankful Augusta has gained such a unique, lush destination.

We enjoyed the Coco Garlic as an app ๐Ÿ˜‹ and shared the Golden Wok of Green, and the Suea Tai (braised short rib!) The Thai Tea was perfect.

Dessert was a Mango Sticky Rice Tart topped with an ice cream that I want to say was Butterfly Pea Flower, but I might be totally wrong. What I do know is that I would go to Suea just for that tart again and again. And again ๐Ÿฅฐ

Through my work with Augusta Locally Grown, I'm able to see all of the efforts going on quietly, daily, to convince people, and to empower them to adapt to a local food system. Whether that's growing your own in a garden at home, cultivating a shared plot, or by buying groceries from local farmers. It can't happen without support, knowledge and resources, which is where ALG comes in.

This video is from the Earth Day celebration at Allen Homes, local housing community, the site of a new community garden developed by Black Farm Street Inc. A collaborative project, the communal garden will provide the area with fresh produce and the chance to build connections. It's a most fundamental act of support, and it will be vital as we go forward. It was literally the most appropriate celebration of Earth Day โค๏ธ

We're facing a major food crisis, and we're about to see a radical overhaul of our food distribution systems, farming policies and local agriculture operations. To combat this, we need to grow as much of our own food as possible, create food sovereignty at a local level, as Chuck said, which is my current focus.

In fact, I started watching This is a Gardening Show by Zach Galifianakis, and he said he thought our future can only be agrarian. I agree ๐Ÿ’ฏ The system we have now is unsustainable and we need to do better.

Have you noticed this shift? Are you growing veggies or anything at home? I'm obsessed with my blueberries, peppers, cabbage and tomatoes. I also have catnip, basil, thyme and lavender. What else do we need to change to accommodate this new way of life?

02/22/2026

We ate the carrots last night, and I'm absolutely not one to rave about those things, but let me tell you, they were sooooo sweet and tender, it felt weirdly decadent. It also felt good because my body craves, deserves & needs quality nutrients.

Everything sold there is grown organically and sustainably - no harmful pesticides, only proven gardening solutions that naturally stave off pests and prevent bacterial growth. If health is high on your priority list, ALG should be your go-to source for all the local things. If local farms are important to you, ALG should be your go-to source.

Which is why I'm slightly weirded out by how few people in our area are shopping from the online market, or showing up to the in-person markets like this one. Especially with the activity we're seeing at a federal level, now is truly the time to bolster the local economy and support local farmers by ACTUALLY BUYING FROM THEM ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ It's not rocket science.

But hey, let's celebrate a new Trader Joe's, right?

Lol just me perpetually confounded by human behavior ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ I see folks from Evans, Martinez, Grovetown & Augusta online every single day asking where they can find local honey, beef tallow, eggs, grass-fed beef, and literally all the things offered by Augusta Locally Grown. So yeah, I am a little confused. I'd love to hear from anyone who has some feedback on the topic. Please feel free to take a look at the market and share your thoughts in the comments ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Also, just fyi I have had some of the most delicious bread, cookies, muffins, pies and cake from the market, and seriously urge you to treat yourself to at least one item when you shop. Seriously. Do it.

Guess I'm sharing this purely because I love this place, and I couldn't be happier when I'm out here. โœจ Bonus points, it's full of amazing people.

Thanks to life in general, I needed to touch grass, literally. Sometimes I need things to slow down.

Truly, being out here helps me so much. To feel gratitude, but also to be at peace. I grew up in a rural area of the UK, I miss the sense of calm it brought me - even though this environment is wildly different, the feeling isn't.

Next time, I'll get a mic out so you can hear all the birds, and chicks and things ๐Ÿฅฐ but there's no way to share the fresh air, or the smell of soil.

๐ŸŒž Context -- NONE of this was here before last summer. I'm seeing this place come to life.

How lucky am I?! What a beautiful location to work with people focused on providing a real connection to our local food supply & supporting wellness in our community.

Absolutely wonderful. Filled my cup ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Happy New Year to everyone except every single person in this city who could be doing more to help local businesses and aren't.

It's time for actual change. Not whatever this is. In addition to the insanity we're seeing nationally, we're now being SEVERELY let down by the City ๐Ÿ‘€ People are losing their jobs and businesses.

Two months on and there's so little progress!! This is hurting so many hardworking people and local businesses in downtown Augusta. The City hired a PR company who told me (back in October) they had a plan to promote the downtown businesses. That's 5 years too late imo - this project has been on the books for a decade!! Oh, so yeah, the marketing campaign they launched? A fuzzy video highlighting a handful of the usual suspects and branded as a holiday reel.

I know a ton of marketing professionals who could vomit something better. I'd be ashamed to put that out and call it a success. What are they even thinking???

I honestly have nothing but swear words right now, so โœŒ๐Ÿฝ out. Please support local.

It's Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿฅฐ

Imagine if our town looked exactly like every other town in the country. Same chains. Same products. No soul.

Thatโ€™s what happens when we stop showing up. These incredible peopleโ€”our friends and neighborsโ€”are fighting every day to keep our community vibrant. They offer things machines canโ€™t make and algorithms canโ€™t curate. They give our town a heartbeat.

When they thrive, we all thrive. Letโ€™s not take them for granted. Choose local.

First off, I hate being negative. I do believe in the changes we're seeing. I'm not mad at that. But where the hell is everyone??

Look, there's literally a handful of people I see on a regular basis attempting to help the small, locally owned businesses in the downtown area, and I am all over Augusta all the time. I'm online waaaaaay more than is healthy and I know there are very few messages getting out to the wider public encouraging them to eat, shop and play local while all of this work is happening. Far more about the crime rate & ironically, the lack of parking.

Who's out there providing motivation and encouragement? The district commissioner, Jordan Johnson, and a few social media folks.

We don't even have any locally owned media anymore, so the negative stuff festers and spreads, amplified thanks to the uninformed spewing their ignorance on social media & drowning out anything else.

Augusta loves to abandon its friends & neighbors to big chains, and that's just weird to me. Locally owned businesses are the heart of our local economy, they deserve our help in times like this. Every news organization in the area should be highlighting these unique destinations and the people who make them work. Not whether or not we'll get a freaking Cava or Trader Joe's ๐Ÿ™„

Seeing my clients grow is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do. And, to help them overcome risks and challenges - such as a chain restaurant serving very similar food moving right down the road - means pulling up your big girl pants and making big moves yourself.

So, when the owners of Laziza Mediterranean Grill told me that a) Cava is moving in down the street and that b) they were opening their third location in Aiken, I felt the time was right to flex with a professional commercial + a heartfelt message of thanks to the Laziza community. Naturally, Kyle Jones Productions was the one to tap - nothing matches his calm, professional approach and just look at the results. So good. The 30-second version began airing on WJBF last week, so I'm sharing the 60-second version today.

The concept began with the idea that this Nader & Lisa's hometown, and that no matter what happens, that is at the core of everything they do. I also wanted to share the warmth this brand brings - it's simply great food, done well, and served with kindness. That's it. We were even able to include our friends and families as extras, and that always makes it feel special!

I do get very sentimental about my clients, and I'm not sorry for that, so I poured as much of my feelings into the copy as I could & Kyle captured every element I requested, perfectly. When we created this video, I was hoping the love I have for them would come through in the script + the direction, and I think we nailed it.

Happy anniversary, Laziza ๐Ÿฅฐ
