Six years ago, I was backstage at The Bug Theatre, stress-sweating through my Spanx thinking, “Well… this will be a cute little one-night midlife crisis.” The show, then called Book of Merit, was supposed to be a 50th birthday celebration where I rewrote my life story with laughter instead of therapy bills.
Little did I know rewriting my past would totally rewire my future.
Fast forward six years (thank you, Covid, for the intermission): 1,700+ humans have seen the show, it has a new title, Optimistic Personality Disorder, and it’s played in 8 states… and in the 52-seat speakeasy comedy club I built in my basement. (Follow your dreams, right?)
And now… I’m REALLY going for it.
I’m launching a 45-show U.S. tour-starting Jan 16 at The Secret Cellar, then Utah, SW Florida, Kentucky & 10+ shows in Q1… Spring in CO & the Midwest… Summer for writing + manifesting a sponsor with a private jet… Fall in the NE & SE… and December off to quietly panic about my January goals.
Is self-producing a 45-show tour insane?
Absolutely.
Will that stop me?
As I say in the show: “Oh, that’s not possible? Who chiseled that over the door?”
Thank you to everyone who has supported this wild ride. And to the 1,700+ people who bought tickets to a show you’d never heard of by a woman you’d never heard of… thank you for believing in me when this whole thing was held together by optimism, caffeine, and a glittery notebook.
