As a Canadian myself, and Dawn a Britain, this woman has been a part of our lives the whole time we've lived. Whether you support royalty or not, it can be agreed that she took her service as Queen very seriously and conducted herself admirably through seven decades of service. 96 years is a good run and she was active for most of it, even greeting the newly chosen PM of the UK just the other day. We could all be so lucky to live so well.
In light of what I see happening with religious fervor and interpretation these last number of years, I find it refreshing to read what she stated in her Christmas address in 2014. I share her sentiment about reconciliation, forgiveness, love, acceptance and healing. This is something the world sorely needs more of.
"For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose birth we celebrate today, is an inspiration and an anchor in my life. A role model of reconciliation and forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing. Christ's example has taught me to seek to respect and value all people of whatever faith or none."
-From the Queen's Christmas Message, 2014.
Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth.
