Really excited to announce that Saamiya and Sarah have both been selected to be part of the Leadership Austin program this year. Sarah joins the Emerge Class 18, while Saamiya joins the Essential Cohort 46. Hoping to take all the wisdom from this amazing program and serve you all even better. Our course started off with discussing Austin's history of racial segregation and the 1928 plan. Did you know East Austinites have a lower life expectancy vs. those living in West Austin? This is why it's so crucial to heal our divides as we grow as a city.

The greatest deception of oppressive systems is to make you think you're alone. Why? Because the loneliness makes you despair and then give up. So if you're feeling sad and lonely today, remind yourself that we are all connected in our struggle for liberation. Remind yourself that even if you can't see them right now, people who are fighting the same fight as you exist. You just have to keep using your voice, going out into the world with hope, and finding them.
