Speaking at Agency Live last week was such an invigorating experience.

Being in the room masterminding with some amazing women running agencies further confirmed I'm on the right path with my work.

My talk was all about the dirty little secrets I've learned about running an agency through the highs and lows.

A key takeaway is that as a founder you have to regulate your own nervous system so you can be your best self for your clients & team in times of growth and lull.

I've got speaking at more business conferences supporting women on my 2025 bingo card.

In October, I’ll be headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico to speak at Agency Live, an in-person conference hosted by Tasha Booth!!

And this conference is unlike any I’ve seen or been at before because it’s specifically catered to female online agency owners. Every session is carefully planned to help them wade through the waters of agency ownership, tackling topics unique to their specific business model.

It's not cutesy to be a bad leader for yourself or others. YES self-care is part of good leadership!!

Take that mental health day, order food in, get a massage, play with your kids, have a date night.. whatever self-care is for you.

Use that same lens of empathy and compassion for your team by giving them a framework to be successful and a way to hold them accountable. ❤️

Okay so you feel like your team couldn't annoy you more, you're feeling that it's almost not worth it anymore, or maybe you have shed some tears over how much you want your people to succeed.

💞 You need to be crystal clear with expectations not based on your emotions or protecting theirs

💰 Having a team that doesn't work well is costing you money in more ways than one

🫂 Your mental health matters too, if your people are draining you let's work on fixing it!

This week has been:

🌬 our AC going out in TX heat

🚗 my car battery going out from TX heat

📅 interviewing people for Quimby's open roles and meeting incredible candidates

👥 team member meetings to listen and learn as I transition more deeply into Quimby

📕 project planning a tech overhaul for an accounting firm client and overseeing their performance management system we built before my mat leave

👶 baby games as he develops new skills

🏫 back to school shopping and prep

and oh yeah completely distilling my genius based on client feedback into core offers. 👏

After 4.5 years freelance, Fractional, and consulting work the light bulb went off on Aligning what my clients need + what I am amazing at providing.

Operations is a broad term and when I tell folx this is my work I get those looks. 👀

You know the ones where it's a "huh ok cool" and some ask follow up questions and some just let it go.

The work I do in operations is about the way your business runs today and tomorrow as well as with and without you. This is important! Your business needs to be able to run without you in all the details to be sustainable long term.

This means process development and refinement, tech audits and automation, and ensuring you have the right team and they are set up to succeed.

Call it what you want but my life's work is to make sure all the people who touch the organization are impacted in a positive way.

From founders and leadership to admins to marketing and of course the clients.

I had a coffee chat yesterday and when I shared what I do (operations and HR) she said "oh I have a very successful business and team with no documented processes"

Everyone. I want you to know there is so much more to operations than SOPs and how-to guides for working in your business.

Operations is about the way your business is built, the way it runs, and how to build it to your next milestone and beyond.

So if someone led you to believe that operations = SOPs just know that was a lie.
