At this stage, I’ve learned that building a home is about curating space that speaks to you and speaks for you. Blavity launched to connect our community with inspiration and information to help.

Red carpet nights.

In addition to getting this look off, attending the reminded me how central art is to my identity and expression.

My mind is an infinite canvas framed by logic and reason. I’m both an ENGINEER who uses technology to make complex things simple and an ARTIST who makes simple things remarkable with nuance and texture.

Whether creating or consuming, everything is curated with care. Art is the intention behind all the ways I show up in the world. Art is the synthesis of sensory, mental and emotional pieces of me, gifted to you.

“Might move our annual s**t to the dome. I need 40,000 people to see what I’m on”

Usually I’m heads down building, so AfroTech events are a nice way to take a step back and connect with our team and community. What we’ve created has outgrown us and I’m in awe.

The .tech team hosted great experiences in Miami, Brooklyn, D.C and LA. Next stop is AfroTech Conference in Austin. Are y’all gonna be there? 👀👀

No idea is original. So don’t get discouraged when you see competitors working on similar projects or building similar things. Just control what you can control: YOURSELF.

Success comes down to EX*****ON. Whether you show up first, last or in the middle, always put in the work to show up BEST. You deserve that.

One ironic benefit of imposter syndrome is that you never get complacent. You’re never convinced that you really “belong”, so you’re constantly working hard to prove it to yourself and others.

It’s a delicate balance between believing in yourself and pushing yourself to be better. On any given day, my mind is back and forth between “Damn, I’m the s**t” and “Damn…I ain’t s**t”.

I’ve learned to tune out the highs and lows and just trust the process. Find joy in the journey and never rush the masterpiece.
