Had fun shooting at the COTA Track. While we were there for a mapping mission, the view itself warranted a photo.

Something I like about photogrammetry that nobody talks about.

You don't have to know what you're measuring when you fly it.

On a normal survey you decide in advance what matters, you go take those shots, and if you needed something else you go back. A model doesn't work that way. You capture the whole site once and every measurement on it already exists. You just haven't asked for it yet.

Three weeks later when somebody argues about how much dirt came out, or where the wall actually landed against the line, the answer was already sitting there on the day you flew.

That's the whole pitch, really.

Every site we fly started with somebody swinging a hammer.

Two hundred fifty years of America, built and defended by people who gave more than most of us will ever be asked to give. This Fourth of July, Violet Crown Aerial honors the men and women who served, sacrificed, and never made it home, and the families who carry that weight every day. Every skyline we document from above exists because they protected the ground it stands on. Freedom isn't free, and it never has been. Happy 250th, America. We fly because they fought. 🇺🇸
