In our world today, the lines between safety and danger have blurred more than ever. My years on the force and now at Viking Executive Protection Solutions have taught me that security isn’t just a precaution—it’s a vital necessity. The recent disappearance of a young Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student near his home starkly reminds us of this reality. He vanished without the everyday items most of us wouldn’t think to leave behind: wallet, keys, and notably, his cell phone, now ominously turned off.
This isn’t just an isolated incident—it’s a wake-up call. It’s easy to assume that we’re safe, that the misfortunes we hear about are anomalies. But, the truth is, danger doesn’t schedule appointments. It’s unpredictable, and it doesn’t discriminate.
As someone who’s navigated the complexities of security and law enforcement for over two decades, I can’t stress enough the importance of situational awareness. Paying attention to your surroundings and listening to your instincts can make all the difference. And if you do find yourself in a situation that doesn’t feel right, remember, it’s okay to remove yourself.
To the community, I say: stay vigilant and keep your eyes open. If you know something, no matter how insignificant it might seem, reach out to the authorities. It’s through our collective effort that we can bring hope to families like the Harrises, awaiting the return of a loved one.
Security is not a luxury; it’s a shield against the unpredictability of life. Let’s arm ourselves with vigilance and a commitment to look out for one another. Together, we can create a safer community, one where the safety of our loved ones isn’t left to chance.
If you have any news about the missing person, please contact the authorities and help his family find him.
