Maschka's Raised Gardens

These garden beds were built and placed a few weeks ago at the Cedar River Farmers Market here in Austin. The gardens were built by Maschka's Raised Gardens and funded by Hoot & Ole's Smittys Tavern and Hometown Food Security Project. The signs you see on the front of these beds were Donated by Johnson Printing Co. and Bill Carroll out of Rochester. A group of volunteers from the farmers market did all the work involved with getting these boxes planted. This really adds to the landscape at the Farmers Market site.

Did a fun build for this little gardener. She was over the moon excited about getting into gardening. Had a great time talking plants and listening to what her plans were. Good luck Tess and thanks for a day of laughs.

Finished up this bird feeder today for a customer. It will not be this tall when placed. It goes in the ground roughly 3 1/2 feet and this option has enough for 8 hanging bird feeders. You could add some suet feeders to this and attract all your feathered friends. Very happy with this project.

Onion 🧅harvest complete. These were planted on March 28th, they were planted in the prototype for our raised bed design. This garden is 16 feet by 30” and it has been very productive since being built. The soil is about 60% organic matter and 40% black dirt and the drainage is very good on this bed. We planted 180 onions from Albert lea seed house in this beast, it had 3 snow falls and 3 frosts on them and still produced a plentiful harvest.

The flowers on this planter are out of control. If you are crazy about hummingbirds this would be a good option for you. Grow your plants in the lower part of the planter that attract hummingbirds, then put 4 hooks on the post, 2 for hanging baskets on 2 hooks and 2 hummingbird feeders on the other 2 hooks and sit back enjoy the show. Once old man winter sets in and your staring at your planter out the window, then hang some bird feeders and suet feeders on it. They are good for year round activity.
