**This is what you're investing in.**

Black mamas knowing they have somewhere to go.

Someone to call.

People to celebrate with.

A community to lean on.

A place where they don't have to explain everything before they can simply belong.

Today, on 8/28, we're asking you to invest in the Village that makes those moments possible.

TODAY, WE INVEST IN US.

August 28 is a national day dedicated to intentionally investing in Black-led organizations.

And there is a reason this date matters.

8/28 carries generations of Black history—freedom, resistance, loss, courage, possibility, and progress.

Today, we add another chapter:

Black investment.

All month long, Black Mamas Village has been reminding our community that Black philanthropy has never only meant writing a check.

It is meals.

Childcare.

Mentorship.

Connections.

Advocacy.

Showing up.

And yes—it is also choosing to financially invest in Black-led organizations so they have the resources to keep serving, building, and dreaming.

So today, we're asking directly.

If you believe Black mamas deserve spaces built with them at the center...

If you believe community care deserves investment...

If you believe Black-led organizations should have the resources to thrive...

Invest in Black Mamas Village today.

Why 8/28?
August 28 carries an extraordinary amount of Black history.

Across generations, this date has held moments of freedom, heartbreak, resistance, possibility, and progress—from emancipation and Jackie Robinson breaking barriers, to the murder of Emmett Till, the March on Washington, Hurricane Katrina, and Barack Obama's historic presidential nomination.

That history is part of why August 28 became a national day focused on investing in Black-led organizations.
And tomorrow, we're joining that spirit in our own way.

All month long, Black Mamas Village has been celebrating Black Philanthropy Month through our WE GOT US. campaign—honoring something Black communities have always known:
We take care of each other.

Tomorrow, we're asking our Village to put that belief into action by intentionally investing in the Black-led work happening right here in Central Texas.
Swipe through to learn why 8/28 matters.
Then come back tomorrow ready to say it with us:
We invest in us.
We Got Us. đź–¤

When we hear the word *philanthropy*, it's easy to picture foundations, galas, and large donations.

But Black philanthropy has always been bigger than money.

It's the auntie who watches the kids.

The neighbor who brings dinner.

The friend who sends the job opening.

The mentor who opens a door.

The community that pools what it has so somebody else can make it through.

Money matters (see link below to contribute your treasure)....and so do all the other ways we invest in one another.

**How have you experienced Black philanthropy in your own life?**

We Got Us. đź–¤

All month long, we're celebrating the people who make the Village a village.
So we're asking one simple question:

What does "We Got Us" mean to you?

Today, Deseré Cross Ward answers...
"We Got Us means... when someone is in need, we work together to find a solution, trusting and believing that as a Village, we already have what we need in order to care for and support members within our community". đź–¤

THIS IS BLACK PHILANTHROPY.

The screenshot shows the first responder...and there were plenty more beautiful offers below it.

Sometimes philanthropy looks like writing a check...
But sometimes it looks like making an extra plate because you know somebody needs one.

Watching somebody's baby.
Sharing a job lead.
Giving somebody a ride.
Showing up with groceries.
Opening a door.
Making an introduction.
Checking on a mama because you haven't heard from her in a few days.

Black communities have always understood that generosity isn't measured only in dollars.
It's measured in how we show up for one another.

This is Black philanthropy.
We Got Us. đź–¤

✨This Is Black Philanthropy ✨

A neighbor making sure another family has food.
A volunteer giving up their Saturday.
Someone quietly meeting a need without expecting recognition.

This is Black philanthropy.

It doesn't always come with headlines.
Sometimes it looks like a pantry shelf.
Sometimes it looks like a shared meal.
Sometimes it looks like simply showing up.
We Got Us.

WE GOT US.
Every Black mama deserves a village.
This Black Philanthropy Month, we're celebrating something our communities have always known:
Philanthropy isn't only about wealth.
It's about showing up.
It's sharing meals.
Offering childcare.
Giving wisdom.
Making introductions.
Checking in.
Volunteering.
Giving what you can.
At Black Mamas Village, we see that spirit every day.
This month, we're inviting you to become part of that story.
Whether you give financially, volunteer your time, share our mission, or simply tell someone about Black Mamas Village...
You're helping build a stronger village for Black mothers and families.
Because...
We Got Us.

Happy Mother’s Day from The Village. 🎉

Today, we celebrate the love, strength, care, resilience, and magic of mothers and caregivers everywhere—especially the Black mamas who continue to hold families, communities, and each other together every single day.

At Black Mamas Village, we know motherhood is powerful, beautiful, exhausting, joyful, complicated, and sacred all at once. And we also know that none of us are meant to do it alone.

Thank you to every mama, grandmother, auntie, bonus mama, expecting mama, grieving mama, and caregiving soul who helps make our community what it is. Your presence matters. Your care matters. You matter.

We hope today brings you moments of rest, love, laughter, connection, and reminders that you are deeply appreciated.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Black Mamas Village. 💛🤎
