Not every legend spent their career on the lead card.

Pat Govang has spent decades helping build the structure behind professional disc golf. From serving as PDGA Commissioner to helping establish the National Tour and institutionalizing the PDGA Ratings system, his influence on the sport runs deep. Today, he serves as Chairman of the DGPT Board of Directors.

A career spent building the game from behind the scenes.

As the PDGA celebrates its 50th anniversary, we’re looking back at the players and organizers who helped shape the world of professional disc golf. From its grassroots beginnings in 1976 to the next generation of competitors and fans, is a celebration of the sport’s past, present, and future.

Help complete a new HouckDesign disc golf course to Lexington!

The Lexington Disc Golf Club is offering $100 annual tee sponsorships at the new HouckDesign course at Coldstream Park. We need 20 more sponsors to help bring this project across the finish line. Write to us to book your tee sign.

Your business or organization will be featured on its own 4″ × 8″ metal sign, placed just below a tee sign. The sponsor signs will be designed to complement the course artwork and preserve the park’s natural beauty. They will match the tee signs. You’ll have the option to renew your sponsorship each year as a fundraiser for the club to invest money back into the disc golf courses in Lexington.

First-year sponsorships will help cover course sign artwork 28 tee signs, an overview map by our professional graphic designer and HouckDesign’s travel expenses for these maps. John donated three days on-site and donated another two to three days working on the maps afterward. We also substantially reduced our design fee to help create this public course where everyone can play for free.

This 18-hole, par-66 course has 28 tees, with holes through wooded areas along a creek and some open areas. The tee signs will introduce players to 18 bird species they may see in the park. A pond is also planned, though it may not be completed by opening. After four years of work by the club, the City, and HouckDesign, the course is expected to open late this year or early next year.

To sponsor a tee, comment below or send this page a message. We’ll reserve an available tee, collect your logo or artwork, and explain how to pay the club. We will reach out to you.

Thank you for supporting disc golf in Lexington, in Kentucky, and beyond. We hope you’ll come play the course when it opens!

Thanks. John and Dee
