Local bear activity is picking up, and our wild neighbors are on the hunt for easy snacks!

At Bruin Waste, we love bears—after all, one is the face of our company—but we want to make sure the real ones stay out of your garbage. Due to the recent spike in bear activity, we are experiencing a high volume of damaged carts. Please keep in mind that cart repairs and replacements take extra time right now, so preventing damage is the best approach for everyone!

Here is how you can bear-proof your routine:

Morning Placement: Only place your cart at the curb the morning of your pickup day (by 6:00 AM) rather than the night before.

Secure Storage: Store trash cans inside a secure garage, shed, or enclosure until collection morning.

Reduce Odors: Double-bag pungent food scraps or freeze smelly items until pickup day to keep curious noses away.

Clean Cans: Regularly wash and sanitize your bins with bleach or ammonia solutions to eliminate food scents.
