I wrote a piece on the blog about what being a full-spectrum means to me. I'm so honored to have my work and words out in the world in this way.

β€œHere’s what I’ve quickly come to learn and feel in my bones:

Birth work is community work. It is care work. It is advocacy work. It is anti-oppression work. It is disruptor work.

It is witnessing. It is caring for the humanity of all people. It is learning and unlearning. It is beyond the systems. It is trauma-aware. It honors the individual AND the collective. It is a full-body experience. It is q***ring it all up.

Birth work seeks to create a reality that aligns with our highest visions for our Earth and all of the beings we cohabitate with.”

My Journey Into Birth Work I have worked with youth and families for most of my life. When I was in middle school, a friend and I started a business called β€œmothers’ helpers” (hello, gender norms!); a little too young to officially babysit, we took care of kids so that parents could have free ...

Hospital Interventions Part 3: Stage 3 Interventions + Birthing Outcomes
⁣
This is our third article in a series that explores different hospital interventions you may consider during your pregnancy and birth process.
⁣
Did you know that you can say NO to vaginal exams? Pelvic or vaginal exams can be used during late pregnancy and/or during labor to check for dilation, effacement, and baby’s position. As the birthing person, you get to decide if you want these exams or not.⁣

Last Thursday, I started to realize that the upcoming week was looking FULL, for which I am grateful and honored. It’s full of things and people and work that I truly love and value.

And, the layers of grief, the heaviness of moments and people lost, the hard conversations that are unresolved and raw, the loneliness of this time… it’s all weighing on me.

I don’t need to share my laundry list of things on my grief list for you to understand that THIS IS A HARD TIME. I know you know. I know you feel it too.

As I thought about the week ahead, I realized that my capacity would not match the energy required to manage all of it (work + personal life + home life). In other words, the fullness passed the threshold into a place of overwhelm because my capacity and tolerance is low right now. Again, I am guessing this experience may be familiar to you, too.

On the blog this week I talk about how I asked for help + the beauty of community care:

A personal share about asking for help. I share reflective questions for readers to consider where and how they, too, need help and support.
