In a December 2025 interview with The i Paper, Kunal Nayyar, best known for playing Raj on The Big Bang Theory, shared a surprising side of his life.
Nayyar said that he sometimes goes on GoFundMe late at night and looks for families who are struggling with medical bills. He then quietly pays some of their bills without telling them who helped. He described this as his “masked vigilante thing.”
Nayyar explained that having money has given him “greater freedom.” For him, one of the most meaningful things about having wealth is being able to help other people.
He said, “the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people's lives.”
Nayyar also gives back in other ways. Together with his wife, fashion designer Neha Kapur, he helps fund university scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The couple also supports charities that help animals.
His comments later gained widespread attention. The story went viral in February 2026 and led to a debate online.
