Stellar New Release from Forgotten Grapes!
A year ago, during one of my visits with Osamu Uchida in Cissac-Medoc—and after exchanging our usual amicable greetings—we embarked on a tour of his vineyards. His surface is just a little over 2 hectares, though it had been even smaller a few years prior. First, we saw the tiny plot dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. Then, of course, we visited the enchanting Miracle parcel, where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives on clay and sandy soil. Afterwards, near the “Stade” (stadium), we admired the 50- to 80-year-old Merlot vines that give rise to Cuvée Venus. Finally, Osamu drove us to an area I have never been before. Still in Cissac-Medoc, nestled along a forest on flat soil composed of clay and limestone, lay a parcel of Carmenere and other forgotten grape varieties. I was stunned. Osamu had kept this secret for four years, and naturally, it made sense to me. Here, he had discovered an extraordinary plot with exceptional vines—and as the artisan he is, he chose not to reveal its wonders until he truly felt its potential. The vineyard is composed of 70% Carmenere and 30% forgotten grape varieties, including some unknown vines. Osamu explained that, thanks to his close ties with the University of Bordeaux and the uniqueness of this parcel, the INAO took an interest in studying it. They discovered Castets, Fer Servadou, Gascon, Bequignol, and the “Inconnu,” vines the institute has not been able to identify (as you can see in the picture below). This plot is featured in Cuvée Circus 2023. Also included in this new release—Miracle 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2023; Pheromone Blanc 2023 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sauvignon Gris, aged in new barrels; and, for the first time, Cuvée Venus made from 100% Merlot.

✨ 2020’s wines from Vouette & Sorbée just arrived!

Few notes from the Gautherot about this vintage:
“In the vineyards, the year started off at full speed in April, picking up pace until the harvest began in August (once again!). There were few major weather challenges to report before the second heatwave in early August, which brought 10 consecutive days of over 40°C in the vineyards. A harvest that initially looked very promising in terms of quantity turned out to be just decent, with acidity levels holding steady (thanks to 22 years of biodynamic practices?) and sugar levels rising quickly.
The harvest began on August 19 and ended on September 14. The whole family was on deck: Léo-Paul in charge of picking, Martin managing the press, Héloïse multitasking everywhere, Hélène and her sisters in the kitchen, and Bertrand… taking a nap!
The juices are proving to be rich, and the maturation of the base wines is progressing quickly.”

NEW ARRIVALS 🍇
Pierre-Henri is part of a new generation of vignerons in Burgundy who are blending tradition with modern approaches. In 2017, he ventured into a personal project—his micro-négoce—allowing him to express his vision in different terroirs. His philosophy is rooted in organic and low-intervention winemaking, respecting the land and its natural cycles. He carefully selects grapes from trusted organic/biodynamic growers and vinifies them with the same meticulous care he applies to his estate-grown fruit.
Recently, we received his delicious 2022s that are so open and ready to drink. This vintage in Burgundy was characterized by warm and dry weather, which brought some challenges but also excellent ripening conditions for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

🍇New Producer!!!
Pascal Thereau is an up-front, young, and sincere person, he tells you like it is and the wines are as such transparent and alive. For many years, he spent his professional life in the art of sourcing wood and crafting barrels. In 2018, he started part-time studying in Beaune and working at Domaine André et Mireille Tissot with Stéphane his mentor.
In 2021, he made his first cuvée “Coup de Feu” a 100% Chardonnay from a parcel in Arbois called “La Régole”.
In 2022, he obtained several parcels from Tissot and Domaine les Bodines. Today, the estate consists of 6ha of various lieu-dits;
“Les Tourillons” situated above the village of Arbois, 4.3 acres in elevation and planted with Savagnin and Chardonnay the soil is made of limestone.
“Les Bodines” 8 acres of mostly clay and limestone soil planted with Pinot Noir, Poulsard, Savagnin and Trousseau.
“Les Corvées” 0.5 acre planted with Chardonnay on red marl.
Pascal farms his vineyards organically and has been certified since 2023. Regarding winemaking, minimum intervention prevails, all the reds spend time in tanks to keep a fruit-forward style, while the whites ferment in barrels and are aged in wood, amphoras, concrete, or wood tank. The winery is called La Patelle, named after a Kiosque located in the lieu-dit Les Tourillons and made in the form of patella shells. The small roof stalled which was abandoned, was rebuilt by Pascal identically.
5 Wines:
- Le Kiosque Vin de France 2022: Chardonnay from Les Tourillons, direct press, aging in wood tank, amphora and concrete diamond
-Les Bodillons: Savagnin from les Bodines and Les Tourillons, direct press, aging in tanks. The name comes from the 2 parcels.
- Poids Plume 2022: 100% Poulsard from Les Bodines, 2.5 weeks of maceration all destemmed grapes and aging in stainless steel - no SO2 added. Poids P
- Dévers 2022: Pinot Noir from Les Bodines. 3 weeks of maceration whole cluster, daily foot pigeage, aging in stainless steel. Dévers refers to a very steep slope.
- Bout d’Vin 2022: Trousseau from Les Bodines. 2.5 weeks of maceration all destemmed, aging in stainless steel. The name comes from Pascal’s son.

New Sparkling chëpìka 2023 - Just In Time for Your Summer!

Despite terrible climatic ordeals, mostly due to spring frost, Nathan Kendall & Pascaline Lepeltier were able to bottle a single cuvée in 2023 from the Buzzard Crest vineyards near Keuka Lake. A blend of 76% Concord and 24% Catawba, hand-picked on 10/08 and 10/09. As usual native yeasts, co-fermented and bottled in late November. The second fermentation was carried out by a culture they made from the sweet must of Concord kept in cold storage. 5 months on the lees and hand disgorged in late April and early May. No Dosage, No SO2 added, Low Abv 10%.
The wine is simply DELICIOUS and carries the qualities of the Concord and Catawba, floral, rhubarb, tight and small bubbles with a brisk acidity and low alcohol, a perfect wine for Summer.

✨✨NICOLA GATTA✨✨

Nestled up in the hills of Gussago overlooking the Po valley sits the winery and his artisan vigneron Nicola Gatta. Nicola for the last three decades has been one of the few winemakers changing the face of Italian traditional method sparkling wines in his region. For Nicola, everything starts in the vineyard, the comprehension of the soil, altitude, exposure, rootstocks, grapes, the farming of it and the important time of harvest. The winemaking is with no intrants, all indigenous yeasts, full malo, aging in a variety of well-chosen casks, in addition the metodo classico is carried without the addition of SO2, only autochthonous yeasts via a meticulous selection of dried grapes, finally a long period of maturation expressed in moons rather than months.  Nicola allows us to discover and enjoy profound and fully enjoyable sparkling wines showing terroir, a radical approach. We are thrilled to represent Nicola Gatta in New York and New Jersey. His first cuvee Quattrocento 40 Lunes, Blanc de Blancs 50 Lunes and Rose de Noirs 70 Lunes just arrived!!!
