🌿As we are preparing to mark another year at SEC Planning, we’ve been taking time to reflect on and recognize the team that has helped shape us. This week we’re spotlighting Andrew Trimble, one of our talented Project Managers.

Andrew has been a valuable team member for two years; he brings 12 years of industry experience to every project he works on. When asked what Andrew has learned from his time with us, he shared video marketing has been a rewarding and valuable skill to learn.

When asked what advice Andrew would give to students entering the field, he shared for all students to learn your native plants. 🌵

🌷As we are preparing to celebrate another year of SEC Planning, we would like to recognize one of our staff designers, Leslie Garcia Vazquez.

Leslie has been with our team for more than two years as an intern and after graduating, transitioning into a full-time position at SEC Planning. Leslie works as one of our talented staff designers for SEC Planning, helping to create conceptual designs, draft construction plans and graphic renderings under the supervision of a licensed LA.🎨

When asked about what she has enjoyed the most about joining the SEC Planning team has been “the bond environment that everyone has with one another. Being able to communicate one on one when having questions.” Her advice for students entering this profession would be to remember, “we continue learning as we go. Do not expect to know everything right away.”

🎧You will often see Leslie with headphones playing music and having a snack to keep her energy up and her workflow going!

SEC Planning has always been proud of the team we have created, and the talent shown within Leslie is no exception. Thank you for joining us and for showing up every day eager to learn and grow with us. 🎆

🌱As we celebrate another year at SEC Planning, we’re taking time to recognize the people who have grown with us and contributed to our team.

This week we would like to spotlight Edward Volk. Edward joined our team as an intern in August 2023. He joined our team after graduating from Texas A&M, transitioning to a full-time employee! Edwards works as a staff designer ll. His role entails working on conceptual plans, residential lotting plans and large-scale residential design. 🏘️

When we talked with him, Edward shared one of the most important things he has learned since joining our team has been “learning how to design thoughtfully. Thinking about why it is important to lay things in where they are, and how thoughtful design leads to communities that residents can be proud of”. His favorite part of working for SEC Planning has been knowing that the neighborhoods and spaces he helps design will become places where people live, connect with each other and build lasting memories. When focused on work you can find him having a Cherry Coke Zero and listening to his music. 🎧

Thank you Edward, for the dedication, creativity and the positive impact you have on every project. Our team is grateful to have watched you grow from an intern to an integral member of the SEC Planning team. We look forward to all that is ahead and what you will accomplish! 🎆

🏞️Located in Kyle, Texas, Project Two Step is a project we are enjoying watch evolve.

Project Two Step is a Mixed-Use Retail and Entertainment destination with a residential component. The PUD/DA for this project was approved in the summer of 2024, Project Two Step is still ongoing. SEC Planning was involved in both acquiring entitlements as well as the site planning of both residential and commercial areas. Our Team also was involved in preliminary designs for pedestrian spaces. 🏗️

Something SEC Planning values is collaboration, recognizing every client is unique and applying that to every project. For Project Two Step we worked alongside many talented individuals, our client Capella Commercial, Metcalfe Wolff Stuart & Williams and TDi. We are honored that we had the opportunity to work alongside them. We look forward to seeing how Project Two Step evolves as the project continues to grow!

As we continue to countdown to our anniversary, we are highlighting the people who have helped SEC Planning be shaped into who we are. 🌿

⛳This week we are sharing Clay Elkins, he has been a part of the SEC Planning team for the past two years. With over three years experience in land planning and fourteen years in golf course design, Clay brings a valuable viewpoint and expertise to every project.

When asked, Clay shared what he would tell students entering the field, “Find a place that makes you happy. Don't stop learning.” One of Clay's favorite parts of working with the SEC Planning team is “Working with a talented team that is easy to get along with and collaborate with.”

If you're looking for Clay during a busy day, you can find him with his headphones on listening to his favorite sports talk station. 🎧

🌡️As the Texas sun puts in overtime, one thing is certain, its pool session!

Our team at SEC Planning enjoys creating amenity spaces to help communities gather together. To us, these spaces create more than an area to cool off, they become spaces to gather. These amenities become a space for neighbors to connect, families to make memories and communities to grow together! 🌊

Designing spaces to encourage connection is the heart of what we do. One of our goals at SEC Planning will always be thoughtful design that can bring people together.

🌱In the growing anticipation of SEC Planning's anniversary, we are taking time to recognize those who have helped shape our story.

One year ago, Abigail joined our team as our Social Media Specialist (Hi y’all!). Since then, she has worked alongside our staff to share stories, projects and the people who make SEC Planning who we are. Although she may not work on projects directly, growing up learning about landscape architecture and land planning from her father, she would share with all students entering this career “You picked this field for a reason, make it reflect who you are and how you want to impact the world”. 🗺️

When asked, Abigail shared that she finds the most fulfilling part of working with the SEC Planning team is getting to work for the company her father started. Although she works from home, she has a few must-haves to stay productive, music and of course her color coordinated calendar for posting.🗓️

At SEC Planning we are proud of the growth we have had. Thank you Abigail for being a part of this milestone year. 🎆

☀️Located in Austin, Texas, the University of Texas Brackenridge Leasing Office has been a rewarding project for SEC Planning to support.
Working alongside the University and Haddon-Cowan Architects, SEC Planning was tasked with redesigning the student housing leasing office entrance. Our team provided services including entry concept development, construction documentation, and coordination of stormwater drainage modifications to support the overall design.🏢
Every project presents unique opportunities and challenges, and our team is committed to developing solutions that align with each client's goals. For this project, the entrance design needed to meet University design standards and function without irrigation. The site's location is at the base of a hillside. This required careful consideration of stormwater runoff and drainage. These factors led to the development of a rock garden-inspired landscape concept that integrates both aesthetic appeal and effective drainage solutions.🪨
We are excited to see this project continue to progress as it approaches its anticipated completion in 2026.🗓️

🌲There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a project go from a concept to reality, Del Webb Lost Pines Amenity Center is no exception.

Del Webb Lost Pines Amenity Center is an active adult amenity center. The program includes a resort pool, bocce courts, pickleball courts and a food truck picnic area to encourage gathering and community.🎾

Construction has been ongoing since June of 2026. Our team worked on the site planning, concept design, construction plans and the construction administration services to bring this vision to reality.

We look forward to watching the growth of the project and to seeing it continue to take shape. 🌱

☀️ As summer begins, we would like to welcome back our returning intern!

Nia joined us last summer of 2025, the SEC Planning team is excited to have her back as she continues her education of Landscape Architecture. She is currently studying at Purdue University. 📚

Nia is excited to continue working alongside our team and continuing to “familiarize myself with the flow and structure of a client-oriented workspace.” She shared that her favorite parts of working with the SEC Planning team are “the range in project types and the hands-on approach with interns!”

Our team is grateful Nia is returning; we are looking forward to seeing her continue to grow and to be a part of her journey again this summer! ☀️
