November wasn’t the worst month for female-identifying fashion photographers, especially if you get in to the magazine page counts. shot Elle’s Women in Hollywood Issue (a nice comeback for the magazine after their October Women in Music feature was photographed exclusively by men). Grossman not only took the cover but 21 pages of empowering portraits!!

racked up 16 gorgeous pages in Marie Claire this month. And finally, while W Magazine commissioned more than 80% male photographers, they did serve us some exquisite photos by and one image by the only black female photographer included this month, . Whether or not this was a pick-up image or a paid assignment is not known. (more info on our blog) Only 👏🏾one 👏🏾image 👏🏾by 👏🏾a 👏🏾black female 👏🏾photographer.🙄
We believe that fashion magazines should strive to commission at least 50% female-identifying photographers and while we are seeing more racial diversity, it’s rarely with black photographers. Let’s help these editors out – tag your favorite female-identifying and/or black photographers 👇👇👇
