I'm returning to my favorite "role" as an adjunct faculty member teaching one Master's course and one PhD course at St Edward's University. CENTRAL TEXAS FRIENDS & COLLEAGUES - FUN volunteer opportunity.

Please consider serving as a judge for the (newly named) Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair (GARSEF)?

We currently have 231 JR/SR judges out of the 350+ we’ll need and 71 Elementary judges out of 220 needed.

We are expecting increased participation this year in every division and, of course, that means we’ll need more judges. Please consider registering and encourage your friends and colleagues to join you.

Here is the judging schedule:

Junior/Senior Division
JR/SR Judging will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Palmer Events Center:
Seniors from 8 am to noon, Juniors from 12:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Elementary Division
Elementary Judging is on Saturday, Feb 24, 2024
Grades 5 - 6 are from 8 am to 10:15 am, and Grades 3 - 4 are from 10:30 am to 1 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: We typically do not have many projects in Embedded Systems, Software, or Mathematics in the Junior and Senior Divisions. If those are your favorite categories, please try to select only one of them and then choose either Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Physics, or, yes, Behavioral Sciences as your 2nd or 3rd choice just so Ingrid, our organizer ([email protected]) have options when she makes assignments. This would greatly help us, and I know y'all are versatile enough to cover those areas.

We will not know how many students will sign up in each division/category until the submission deadline at the end of January, though typically, we have more than twice as many Junior Division projects as Senior ones.

You can sign up for either one of these two divisions or both - if that works for your schedule - Ingrid could then assign you where you are needed most.
