It is a big day for business as the Texas House takes up HB 5 by Chairman Todd Hunter.

We urge House Members to vote FOR HB 5.

Known as the "Texas Jobs and Security Act," HB 5 promotes job growth, economic development, and helps bring our supply chains back to U.S. soil.

Enjoyed hosting Excelencia in Education at TAB Headquarters!

TAB Board Chairman Massey Villarreal is passionate about Excelencia's mission, which is to get Latino students to and through college. Sarita Brown and Deborah Santiago do a phenomenal job leading this organization.

After an impressive day full of productive conversations on education and the workforce, were honored to be joined by State Senator Carol Alvarado, UT Chancellor JB Milliken, and UTSA President Taylor Eighmy at a rooftop reception.

The team had a great time in Laredo at the Border Trade Advisory Committee Meeting.

Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson did an excellent job chairing the meeting. We discussed border infrastructure projects needed to improve trade flows.

Big thanks to Gerry Schwebel of IBC Bank (and TAB member!) for leading a tour of the World Trade International Bridge. Canadian Consul General Susan Harper, TAB Board Treasurer Eddie Aldrete, David Zapata, and Glenn Hamer attended.

The Chamber for the Schertz-Cibolo-Selma area stopped by TAB HQ today to meet with TCCE - Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives' Exec.Director Drew Scheberle and Texas State Chamber CEO Glenn Hamer.

Glenn gave a legislative update. Today HB 8 will reach the House Floor. The bill contains critical community college finance reform that better aligns what is being taught with workforce needs.

Yesterday, Glenn testified in support of HB 5, which 250+ chambers of commerce, economic development groups, and business organizations support. The bill creates a new economic development program so that communities can compete for large capital investments that translate to jobs and long-term tax revenue for public services (like schools).
