๐Ÿงฌ The researchers combined Masson Trichrome staining of 166 whole-slide cases, proteomic profiling and transcriptomic analyses of the METABRIC and TCGA-BRCA cohorts.

๐Ÿ”ฌ The results consistently showed that lower-grade breast tumors were characterized by higher intratumoral collagen deposition and stronger collagen-related extracellular-matrix expression than high-grade tumors.

๐Ÿ“Š The study also identified a potentially important role for collagen in Grade II breast cancer. Higher collagen expression separated Grade II cases into groups with more favorable clinical characteristics and better survival outcomes, supporting further research into collagen deposition as an additional prognostic feature.
