TECHNICAL GUIDE: DISABLING DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL) ON AUDI Q3 VIA ODIS

DISABLING OR ADDING DRL CONTROL THROUGH THE MMI ON AUDI Q3 REQUIRES PROPER BCM CODING USING ODIS. BY DEFAULT, MANY VEHICLES DO NOT SHOW THE DRL ON/OFF OPTION IN THE MMI UNTIL IT IS ACTIVATED THROUGH DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE.

COMPATIBLE TOOLS & SOFTWARE

Laptop with ODIS Service (ODIS S) or ODIS Engineering (ODIS E)

Diagnostic interface: VAS5054, VAS6154, Tabscan 6154, or PassThru J2534

(REFERENCE SETUP: ODIS S 23 + Tabscan 6154)

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE

STEP 1 – CHECK CURRENT MMI STATUS
Enter MMI → Exterior Lighting.
You will notice only limited lighting options, with no DRL ON/OFF control available.

STEP 2 – CONNECT TO THE VEHICLE
Plug the diagnostic interface into the OBD2 port.
Launch ODIS Service and wait for vehicle recognition.

STEP 3 – RUN FULL VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS
Allow ODIS to read all ECUs and vehicle configuration data completely.

STEP 4 – ENTER SELF-DIAGNOSIS MODE
Switch to Self-Diagnosis (OBD Mode) to manually access individual control units.

STEP 5 – CODE THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)
Open the BCM / Central Electronics module.
Locate the DRL-related parameters.
Enable the option that allows DRL control via the MMI menu.

STEP 6 – IGNITION RESET & VERIFICATION
Turn ignition OFF → ON.
Return to MMI → Exterior Lighting.
The DRL ON/OFF option should now be available and functional.

TECHNICIAN NOTES

Always back up original coding before making changes.

BCM parameter names may vary slightly depending on model year and software version.

Stable voltage is recommended during coding to avoid errors.

TECHNICAL FIX: RESOLVING U1A35-62 SUSPENSION FAULT ON RANGE ROVER L322 (2008)

THE U1A35-62 FAULT ON RANGE ROVER L322 IS COMMONLY RELATED TO A FAILED RLM (RIDE LEVEL MODULE) OR INCORRECT CONFIGURATION AFTER MODULE REPLACEMENT. FOLLOWING THE CORRECT PROGRAMMING AND CALIBRATION PROCEDURE IS ESSENTIAL TO RESTORE NORMAL SUSPENSION OPERATION.

STEP-BY-STEP REPAIR PROCEDURE

STEP 1 – REPLACE THE RLM MODULE
Install a new RLM module with the same part number as the original unit.

STEP 2 – DIAGNOSE WITH SDD
Connect the diagnostic interface and launch JLR SDD.
Confirm the presence of DTC U1A35-62 in the suspension system.

STEP 3 – CONFIGURE NEW MODULE
In SDD, navigate to:
Service Functions → Configure New Module → RLM

STEP 4 – PROGRAM THE MODULE
Start the programming process and carefully follow all ignition ON/OFF prompts shown by SDD.

STEP 5 – CLEAR FAULT CODES
Once programming is complete, clear all stored DTCs and finalize the RLM configuration.

STEP 6 – SUSPENSION HEIGHT CALIBRATION
Perform suspension height calibration using measured wheel-to-arch values as requested by SDD.

STEP 7 – FINAL VERIFICATION
Recheck the dashboard warning lights and rescan with SDD to confirm the U1A35-62 fault is fully resolved.

TECHNICIAN NOTES

Always maintain battery voltage above 12.5V during programming.

Online configuration is strongly recommended for correct module synchronization.

Skipping calibration may cause the fault to return.

TECHNICAL GUIDE: ACTIVATING OR DEACTIVATING AGILITY MODE WITH VEDIAMO

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE

STEP 1 – START VEDIAMO
Launch the Vediamo software and wait until the main interface loads.

STEP 2 – SELECT THE TRANSMISSION PROJECT
Choose the correct Transmission Control Module (TCM) project.
Example shown: EGS53.

STEP 3 – LOAD THE CONNECTION FILE
Select the appropriate connection file that matches the TCM (e.g., EGS53).

STEP 4 – ACCESS MANUAL VARIANT CODING
Navigate to Variant Coding → Manual Coding to enter advanced configuration mode.

STEP 5 – MODIFY AGILITY MODE PARAMETER
Locate the parameter related to Agility Mode.
Change the value to enable or disable the function as required.

STEP 6 – RESET THE TCM
After writing the new coding, perform a TCM reset to apply the changes correctly.

STEP 7 – VERIFY OPERATION
Check the instrument cluster before and after coding.
Confirm that A – Agility Mode appears and operates as expected.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Always back up original coding data before making changes.

Ensure stable battery voltage during coding to prevent TCM errors.

Use the correct project and CBF files to avoid communication issues.

TECHNICAL FIX: RESOLVING DTC P157000 – ECM SECURITY LOCKED

Immobilizer warning displayed on the instrument cluster

Check Engine Light illuminated

Engine fails to start or starts briefly then stalls

ROOT CAUSE

The ECM has not been correctly synchronized with the vehicle’s immobilizer system and coded keys. Without authorization, the ECM remains locked.

APPROVED SOLUTION (OEM METHOD)

Perform Online Immobilizer Synchronization using ODIS Service

This procedure requires:

ODIS Service (Online / S version)

Valid online login with immobilizer authorization rights

STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE

Connect ODIS Service and perform a full fault scan

Confirm DTC P157000 – ECM Locked is present

Open Guided Functions

Run “ECM Locked Test”

Complete Online Login to synchronize ECM with immobilizer and keys

Cycle ignition OFF/ON

Restart the vehicle and confirm normal engine start

TECHNICAL NOTES

Offline tools or manual methods cannot unlock ECM security

Stable internet connection is mandatory during the login process

Always use OEM procedures to avoid immobilizer data corruption

PROPER ONLINE AUTHORIZATION FULLY RESTORES ECM FUNCTION AND NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION.
