Some worries feel huge because they ask us to solve things that were never ours to control.
Other people’s choices. Their moods. What happened yesterday. What might happen next week. The outcome we’re hoping for.
It’s exhausting, especially for children and teens who may not yet have the words for it. They can end up replaying conversations, trying to keep everyone happy, or panicking about things that have not happened.
When anxiety is rising, it can help to come back to a few simple questions:
What can I do next?
What can I say?
What boundary do I need?
How can I look after myself right now?
We cannot control everything. But we can choose where we put our energy. That small shift can make a hard moment feel a little more manageable.
