Confessions of a Human Resources professional #1: Workers Comp and FMLA fraud. Before now, when I worked for a company, I’ve alerted the insurance company to suspected fraud, who then hired a private investigator to follow the employee to investigate a fraud claim. For example: I had an employee who had a back workers comp claim and a fellow employee spotted this person loading a sofa on the back of their truck that was sitting on the side of the road. Upon a look in the back parking lot, there was the sofa in the bed of his truck. I never knew what the investigator found but his claim was denied a month later. My goal as a rogue HR professional: not to help you commit fraud but to help you avoid needless mistakes and to let you know what goes on behind the scenes.
