When the customer says, “I already have the artwork!”
AI-generated images are showing up more and more in the sign world, so here’s a friendly little PSA from your neighborhood sign shop…
An AI image can be a helpful visual reference. It shows us the style, colors, font style, and overall direction you have in mind.
What it usually isn’t…is print-ready artwork. 👀
Taking an image that looks great on a phone and turning it into something that can be printed 2, 4, 8+ feet wide often requires us to recreate, clean up or vectorize the artwork first.
And yes…that additional design/vectorization work does come with a fee.
So if AI helped you create the idea, no problem. Just know that there will still be design work between “I made this” and “let’s print this.” 😉
Because pixels get a whole lot more noticeable when they’re 8 feet tall. 😂
