When you stare at your landscape for years and wish it were different, it can be difficult to 'unsee' what is already there. Even when I landscape at my home, I often bring in a designer friend to brainstorm and explore ideas.

As we walk your property and get to know each other, The Vision for your space often appears clearly and brightly in my mind.

Other times, The Vision and I have to get to the drawing table and wrestle with legal constraints, budget or ALL of the different ways to solve a drainage issue.

In all cases, your landscape dream makes its way from the mud pit or kudzu forest you stare at from your kitchen window into a place that feels made for you and your family.

Did you know that October 1st through December 31st is the IDEAL time to install new shrubs and trees around Atlanta, GA?
(zone 8 )

Because our winters are typically moist and our soils rarely/never freeze to a depth of 6”, newly installed plants (3 gallon size and up) appreciate moving from the high level care of the nursery to your landscape at a time when they are not actively trying to grow and bloom.

I have installed thousands of new plants in my 25 year landscape career. The difference between a fall/winter installation and a spring/summer installation is staggering. Many times, it is the difference between life and death!

Tips for success:

1. Dry cold in the winter is as dangerous as dry heat in the summer. If it has not recently rained, make sure to water your landscape before sub-freezing temperatures. The water freezes and insulates the foliage and tender roots.

2. Your soil may need amendments, but unless you’re dealing with new construction fill dirt (dead soil), the most important additive at the time of installation is Mycorrhizal Fungi like this product. https://amzn.to/3SYUbrc
