We had so much fun working with our Junior Service Learning Club this year! They are full of ideas and creativity, and always keep us smiling! We can't wait to work with these wonderful students again next year!

Yesterday we wrapped up our Junior Service Learning Club and Avondale Youth Advisory Commission meetings for the year! These students have all worked hard to make an impact in their community this year, and we are so proud of them.

This year our students:

-Collected over 1,000 pounds of food during our annual food drive
-Ran a successful drive to collect items for a local animal shelter
-Planted 40 trees around the Agua Fria campus
-Partnered with a variety of departments and groups to volunteer at events throughout Avondale
-Traveled to Washington, D.C. for a national conference
-Started Homework Helpers to provide academic support to students in grades K-5
..just to name a few!

For this year's , the City of Avondale, AZ partnered with Arizona Sustainability Alliance, Fria High School and Arizona Public Service - APS to plant 40 trees around the field at Agua Fria! Our commission members, along with students from the school. spent the morning planting trees that will grow and be at the school for years to come. Great job everyone!

We need to take a minute to give a shoutout to the wonderful students at Desert Star School who make up our Junior Service Learning Club! These students have worked so hard this year and have run two successful drives to help their community! They collected over 1,200 pounds of food for our food drive in November, and recently collected items for the Sun Valley Animal Shelter! Keep up the great work!
