We lost an important person on February 18th this year.

Many of you may have known her, and maybe others didn't but saw her working the WTA merchandise booth at the rendezvous, volunteering her time at banquets, or saw her participating at WTA board meetings. Jody Zuelsdorff was a cornerstone of the Wisconsin Trappers Association (WTA) and a dedicated mentor across multiple communities. Known affectionately as the "mom" of our WTC instructor group, she had her pots in a lot of fires.

Jody lived a life of service, often behind the scenes, ensuring everyone else was taken care of. She helped create the first-ever WTC, and although she could have been the face everyone saw every day mentoring each student, she volunteered to be in the kitchen, correct books, and ensure everything was prepared for the next event and everyone was fed.

Her commitment to the Wisconsin Trappers Association (WTA) was extreme. She was a long-time coordinator of WTA Merchandise, and let me tell you, the PD for that volunteer position was CRAZY LONG! Her tireless dedication did not go unnoticed; she was rightfully honored with the WTA Vice President’s Award, a testament to her years of hard work and passion for trapping.

Although less familiar with this role, Jody also dedicated years to 4-H and served as a respected judge for the Pony of the Americas Club, Inc., guiding the next generation of animal handlers.

While her passing leaves a significant void, her legacy of kindness and community service remains an inspiration to us all. So to celebrate her life and her work creating Women's Trap Camp (the reason everyone was together), the camp held a banquet in her name on Saturday night.

Thank you to those who participated! The revenue will not only go to the camp but also help fund the Jody Zuelsdorff Memorial scholarship which provides free registration annually to a student. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten!

Rest in Peace, Jody. We'll miss you!

Well WTC officially wrapped up our second Setting Steel workshop. SS was created to help graduates build upon what they’ve learned at camp. These ladies are getting better with every set, and it’s awesome to watch them build confidence in their trapping and putting up of fur!We thank all of our donors who made this possible!

Sorry I haven’t kept you updated…Skye left camp and with that left our daily journal! Today is day 3 of the WTC Setting Steel workshop. Traps are OUT, fur is being put up, and more “learn-tos” are unfolding; fur sewing and animal carriers with Janica Obermueller, gun safety and cleaning with Jenna Malinowski, and skull boiling with Staci Beilke. Skye Defourneaux did come back for the day to teach her daughter a thing or two on the trailing and teach the rest of the group about turkey calling. MORE TO COME! Thank you Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for allowing us to trap on beautiful Sandhill Wildlife Area and supplying us with food throughout the week!
