Mold isn’t always sitting out in plain sight. Sometimes the first time you see the extent of the problem is when drywall, trim, or flooring is removed.
If you discover suspected mold in your home or business, here’s what to do:
1. Don’t disturb it unnecessarily. Avoid scraping, brushing, sanding, or tearing into more material, which can spread spores and contaminated dust.
2. Look for the moisture source. Mold growth is usually connected to moisture—such as a plumbing leak, roof leak, flooding, or persistent humidity.
3. Avoid blowing air directly across the affected area. Fans can potentially move spores and particles into other areas.
4. Keep people away from the affected space when possible, especially if there is extensive visible growth.
5. Call a professional to evaluate the situation. Proper remediation means addressing both the contaminated materials and the moisture problem that allowed the growth in the first place.
We provide professional mold remediation and restoration services for residential and commercial properties.
