Anyone else seeing this? Yesterday my FB just completely flipped.

Whether I like it or not, what it used to give me was Democrat, wine, jazz.

Now I’m getting football, baseball, celebrity - I detest that stuff.

I would not have clicked on something like that. Seriously - there’s nothing at all that I care about. I’m getting tired of hitting “not interested” and still getting stuff I don’t want. This could be the end of FB for me.

Wonderful warm day in the vineyard! I started pruning last week, this is the nicest day by far - I’m out working in a T-shirt, you can see my coat abandoned on a post up the hill a while ago. It’s nice for me, but if this keeps up, the grapes will come out of dormancy earlier which means I have less time to get through the job. It typically takes me about 2 months, the grapes normally wake up early April.

It seems I’m doing a series of Why I Became A Vigneron…

Today I finished bringing down the bird netting, post-harvest. The weather today is perfect for working - as long as I’m working, it’s warm enough in the sun for just a T-shirt!

I’m resting at the picnic table for a few minutes, looking at the vines. When I quit, I’ll grab a glass of wine and come back down to watch the sunset.

Bringing in the netting is an essential job for many reasons, but most importantly, it has to be done before I can put up the holiday lights in the vineyard. I’ve got some up today, but won’t turn them on tonight as there’s a good possibility of viewing an Aurora Borealis, so I’ll avoid the light pollution today. You can go to the Perennial Vintners website to see photos of the vineyard lights from previous years.

This is why, I became a vigneron. Harvest was finished couple of days ago - the grape juice is in the tanks, fermenting to become wine. I just finished picking up the mess yesterday, today, I’m gonna rest and relax. The sun came out, and even though it’s only 62F, it’s so warm I’m fine here, at the top of the vineyard, with a panini sandwich and a glass of zweigelt from the grapes 10 feet away in front of me.

Special today only!

You can taste fresh grape juice at Perennial Vintners. We just pulled samples of our exclusive Melon de Bourgogne grape, so you get to taste sweet juice before it’s made into wine.

An exciting time in the vineyard - this photo is of one of our Siegerrebe plants - the little thing poking up to the center right is called an inflorescence, which is a proto-flower, which will eventually become a cluster of grapes.
