Now that it's hot outside, are you watering your plants more than once a week? If water stands for 5 days or more in plant saucers, they become a potential site where Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (aka: "ankle biters") can lay their eggs and develop. The Solution: fill the water margins with sand and mosquitoes cannot develop. If we all work together, we cannot reduce residential mosquito numbers.

Please Do Not take mosquitoes for granted!! Mosquitoes here in Kern County carry and transmit West Nile virus! When outdoors, especially after sunset, make sure to apply insect repellent. One bite from an infected mosquito can make you very ill or even cost you your life.

Did you know that Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (aka: "Ankle Biters") can cycle from egg to adult in 5-6 days? Inspect your yards weekly and remember to dump or drain even small amounts of water. No Standing Water.....No Mosquitoes!!
