The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce continued its 2026 Energy & Agriculture Academy with an engaging second session focused on “MYTHBUSTERS!”

What’s fact? What’s fiction? And what do we really know about the industries that power, fuel and feed Kern County?

Our Academy participants had the opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders who helped separate common misconceptions from reality, offering valuable perspectives on energy, agriculture, water resources, economic development and the policies shaping our region’s future.

Our featured speakers included:

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE IN KERN COUNTY!

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to launch our INAUGURAL HEALTH CAREERS ACADEMY, an exciting new initiative designed to educate, empower and connect individuals with career opportunities in our local healthcare industry!

Presented by the KCHCC in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross, local healthcare providers and educational institutions, this eight-week professional development program is offered in both English and Spanish, helping make career exploration and professional growth more accessible to our community.

Throughout the program, participants will gain firsthand insight into the healthcare industry through hospital and clinic visits, conversations with healthcare professionals, career exploration, educational pathways and valuable workforce development opportunities.

From clinical care to healthcare administration and beyond, our goal is simple: open doors, create connections and help develop the next generation of Kern County healthcare professionals!

Corina shares her family roots and the journey that led her and husband Ernesto Topete into the restaurant and entertainment industry, including their decision to take ownership of Jerry’s Pizza & Pub on April 1, 2018. We explore what it meant to take the reins of a longtime Bakersfield institution and their commitment to preserving the history, nostalgia, and character generations of customers have come to love, while introducing a fresh vision for its future.

Corina also reflects on the significance of Latino entrepreneurship and the growing role Latino-owned businesses play in shaping the economic and cultural vitality of downtown Bakersfield. ENERGY. AGRICULTURE. OPPORTUNITY IN KERN COUNTY.

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Energy & Agriculture Academy is officially underway, bringing participants closer to the industries, people and opportunities that help move our region forward.

We launched this year’s Academy with an incredible firsthand experience at the Chevron Kern River Oilfield, where participants went beyond the classroom to see operations in action, ask questions and learn directly from industry professionals.

Experiences like this are at the heart of our KCHCC Academy programs. By creating access to local industry leaders and real-world operations, we’re helping participants better understand the economic engines of Kern County and the career paths, innovation and opportunities connected to them.

A special thank you to Megan Lopez and the entire Chevron team for opening your doors, sharing your knowledge and giving our Academy participants such a valuable start to this year’s program.

Education creates understanding. Access creates opportunity. Connections create possibilities.

There’s much more ahead for our Energy & Agriculture Academy, and we can’t wait to share the journey.

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was proud to join organizations across multiple sectors, elected officials and media partners at Clinica Sierra Vista for the Binational Health Kern County Press Conference.

At the heart of Binational Health is a shared mission: connecting Latino and immigrant families throughout Kern County with healthcare, trusted health information and resources that help build healthier, stronger communities.

We were honored to welcome Consul Rebeca Ron Noriega of the Consulado de México en Fresno, along with our Binational Health partners and local, state and federal officials, as we highlighted what is possible when organizations come together with a shared commitment to the people we serve.

And the work continues!

Moments like these remind us why supporting small businesses matters. They create jobs, bring new energy to our neighborhoods and add to the incredible culture and flavor that makes Kern County home.

Congratulations to the entire El Taquito Authentic Mexican Cuisine team on this exciting new chapter! We wish you continued growth, success and many years of serving our community.
