🧠 Why Repeating Questions Happens in Dementia
“Did you already eat?”
“What time are we leaving?”
“When are you coming back?”

If your loved one asks the same question over and over, it can be frustrating—but repetition is often a symptom of dementia, not intentional behavior.

Why does it happen?
🧠 Memory Loss
They may forget that they already asked the question moments ago.

💭 Anxiety or Uncertainty
Repeating a question can provide reassurance when they feel confused or worried.

⏰ Difficulty Understanding Time
They may not remember when something happened or how long ago it was.

❤️ Seeking Comfort and Connection
Sometimes, the repeated question is really a way of looking for reassurance from someone they trust.

What Can Caregivers Do?
Instead of saying, “I already told you that,” try:

“Yes, we're having lunch at 12. You're safe, and I'll let you know when it's time.”

✔️ Stay calm and patient
✔️ Give short, simple answers
✔️ Avoid arguing or correcting repeatedly
✔️ Use reminders, calendars, or written notes
✔️ Look for what may be causing the anxiety behind the question

Remember: They aren't giving you a hard time. Dementia is making things hard for them. ❤️

Small moments of patience can make a big difference in the life of someone living with dementia.

❤️ Need Support for Your Loved One?
You don't have to navigate dementia care alone.

❤️ Does Someone in Your Family Have a Fear of Water?
💭 Did you know that dementia can sometimes cause a fear of water?

What may look like stubbornness or refusal to bathe could actually be fear, confusion, or feeling overwhelmed. The sound of running water, difficulty understanding temperature, feeling vulnerable while un******ng, or simply forgetting why they need to shower can make bathing stressful for someone living with dementia.

❤️ The fear is real. Understanding the “why” can make a difference.

As caregivers, patience, gentle communication, and a calm approach can help create a safer and more comfortable bathing experience.

🧠 Normal Aging vs. Dementia: What’s the Difference?

Forgetting a name once in a while, misplacing your keys, or taking a little longer to learn something new can happen as we age. But when memory changes become frequent, cause confusion, or begin to interfere with everyday activities, it may be time to take a closer look.

Knowing the difference can help families recognize changes early and make sure their loved ones receive the right support. ❤️

Remember: Dementia is not a normal part of aging. If you’ve noticed changes in your loved one’s memory, behavior, or ability to manage daily activities, don’t ignore the signs.
