The supercell that started over Little Rock at about 4:30 yesterday will be the focus of studies for a long time. It had a nearly 400 mile track through Arkansas, Missouri, Tennesee, and Kentucky,

Damage surveys will determine if it was several long rack tornadoes or one single tornado. The record for the longest track tornado was the tri-state tornado in March 1925 that was on the ground for 219 miles.

A significant tornado outbreak is expected to begin this afternoon across parts of Louisiana and Arkansas, and then spread eastward and peak this evening and into tonight across Mississippi and Alabama. Long-track, intense tornadoes are expected along with damaging winds and large hail. Residents in the risk areas are encouraged to remain weather aware by checking in frequently today and tonight with a trusted source for severe weather information.
