This week we tasked our intern to explore Self Awareness and it’s application as she prepares for college.
Self-awareness is the ability to recognize and understand one’s emotions, thoughts, values, and how together they shape decisions and behaviors. Self-awareness isn’t something that comes easy, but a skill that must be practiced. Here are some ways you can work on your self awareness:
1. Reflective Journaling - taking time out of your day to look within and write what you feel
2. Mindful Meditation - take a second to relax and focus on nothing but your breathing
3. Conversations with Others - assess yourself by conversing with others to see how you’re doing

Last week, we took a trip to the library in Valley Stream to research their job readiness and civil service resources. Our intern found a plethora of references to help those looking to start or expand their careers. This is a reminder that there are so many resources all around open for use.
