As Fire, Law and EMS responders, we do not fully realize the immense burden our emergency dispatchers handle during major public crises. One can only imagine the overwhelming call volume these dispatchers managed on September 11, 2001, receiving messages from terrified citizens, trapped workers, and responding units as events unfolded.

Dispatchers possess an essential skill and bear a critical responsibility in receiving high-stress calls and efficiently directing information to the appropriate agencies. They deserve our highest recognition and sincere gratitude for everything they do.

On behalf of the Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department, we remember and honor the 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and numerous civilians who lost their lives 25 years ago today.

This solemn anniversary marks a day that profoundly impacted our nation's peaceful way of life. We will always remember where we were, and remain dedicated to honoring the memory of those who never returned home to their families.

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military members, and everyday heroes who ran toward danger while others were running away.

🚒 We remember the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
🕯️ We remember the families who were left behind.
🇺🇸 We remember the courage, unity, and strength of our nation.

On July 16 2026, Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Baptiste Street and Coulee Street for multiple people that had been shot. BVFD responded and provided care to the patients. Due to the patients injuries Acadian AirMed was contacted to respond to the scene to provid transport to the necessary hospital to receive the best care.

On 8/13/2026 Baldwin Police Department and Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department members were recognized by Acadian Ambulance and Acadian AirMed. Members were presented a Meritorious Service Award in recognition of their excellent life-saving contributions and dedication to emergency medical services.
