Located in Ballinger TX, Frey Cattle Company was formed by Clifford Frey, as the major stockholder. Brothers Charles and Rodney Frey, and brother in law Alan Halfmann also held shares in the company. This cattle order buying business started it’s humble beginning in a vacated cattle auction barn in Ballinger. Within two years the company had outgrown the facilities. In 1980 construction started on
their present facilities located on Highway 83. Upon Clifford’s death in 1988, Alan Halfmann took over as manager of Frey Cattle Company and expanded the reach of the company’s order buying business. In 2015 Alan acquired the entirety of Frey Cattle Company and now serves as President. He oversees all operations of the company. Alan’s son, Robby was raised working alongside his dad. As soon as he could walk he would help Alan sort cattle! In high school, and while attending Tarleton State University, Robby had an
active part in the operation of Frey Cattle Company. Today, Robby is a partner and serves as Vice President of Frey Cattle Company, managing daily operations; buying, selling, and shipping
cattle. Over the years Frey Cattle Company has expanded their pens and feeding facilities. Preconditioning pens for grass and feedlot cattle, and processing facilities have been added to meet the customer demands. Additional livestock buyers have also been hired to fill the growing number of orders efficiently. Buyers travel to sales throughout the state of Texas to find the best quality cattle for their customers. Marty Frey, Clifford Frey’s son, has established a feedlot operation at Frey Cattle Company.
