🌊 World Oceans Day reminds us that protecting our oceans begins much closer to home: every river, stream, creek, and stormwater system is connected to larger waterways and, ultimately, to the ocean.

Pollution that enters local waterways does not stay local. It affects ecosystems, wildlife, public health, economic activities, and the resilience of our communities.

Healthy oceans and clean waterways provide critical benefits, including food security, climate regulation, biodiversity protection, recreation, and economic opportunities. They are among our most valuable natural resources.

As environmental professionals, community leaders, and residents, we all have a role to play. Whether through responsible waste management, stormwater pollution prevention, habitat restoration, environmental education, or community engagement, our collective actions can make a meaningful difference.

Did you know that eligible City of Rockville residents may qualify for grant funding to help protect their homes from flooding and drainage issues?

Eligible projects may include:
✔️ Sump pumps
✔️ Gutter replacement
✔️ Portable water pumps and hoses
✔️ Landscape grading improvements
✔️ Quick dams
✔️ Other flood mitigation measures

🌧️ ATTENTION ROCKVILLE RESIDENTS!

💧Thanks to a partnership between the Chesapeake Bay Trust the City of Rockville GovernmentCity of Rockville, and the Montgomery County Green Bank, eligible residents can receive FREE technical support + matching reimbursement funds for home flood-protection improvements.

💧 The City of Rockville Flood Mitigation Assistance Program offers matching reimbursement funds to residents and property owners who have made improvements to their properties in the past years to mitigate future damage from flooding events.

💧The program will provide up to 50% of the total costs for approved measures, up to a maximum amount of $5,000.
