How did a single developer come to control the fate of Harborplace?

"The Inner Harbor’s dilapidated pavilions with green roofs are the result of a controversial bargain struck nearly five decades ago. Under a plan approved by voters, the city ceded public land to a private developer. In return, Baltimore got a dazzling festival marketplace on a waterfront promenade a block away from the central business district.

Harborplace was a sensation, drawing millions of visitors, but over time it lost its luster, traded hands and fell into disrepair. Last June, an LLC created by Bramble bought Harborplace for nearly $83 million after its previous owner defaulted on a loan and the property came under the control of a court-appointed receiver, records show. He beat other developers vying for the project." via The Baltimore Banner

🎗️ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, affecting about 1 in 8 women during their lifetime? That means there's a 7 in 8 chance that a woman will never have to face this diagnosis. But for those who do, it's a battle that takes immense strength and courage.

In 2023, it's estimated that around 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women, and approximately 43,700 women will lose their lives to this disease. These numbers remind us of the importance of early detection and the need for ongoing research to find better treatments.

Breast cancer can affect anyone, and it's crucial to remember that it's not just a disease of older women. The median age at diagnosis is 62, but many women are diagnosed much younger, and breast cancer can be aggressive in some cases.

We also need to acknowledge the disparities in breast cancer incidence and outcomes among different racial and ethnic groups. Black women, in particular, face higher death rates and a higher likelihood of developing breast cancer before the age of 40. This highlights the importance of equity in healthcare and the need to address these disparities.

Despite the challenges, there's hope. Breast cancer death rates have been declining thanks to early detection through screening, increased awareness, and improved treatments. Today, there are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States, a testament to the power of resilience and the progress we've made in the fight against this disease.

This October, let's come together to raise awareness, support those affected, and promote early detection through regular screenings. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those battling breast cancer. 💗 💕

Homeownership often leads to a significantly higher net worth when compared to renting, and this trend holds true across various income categories. But have you ever wondered why? The answer lies in the transformative power of homeownership.

When you become a homeowner, you're not just investing in a place to live; you're investing in your financial future. One of the key drivers behind this is the appreciation of home values over time. Unlike renting, where your monthly payments don't contribute to your long-term financial stability, owning a home allows you to build equity.

As the years go by, your home tends to increase in value, which means that its worth grows alongside your net worth. This appreciation is like a silent force working in the background, steadily and consistently strengthening your financial position.

Imagine your home as an asset that appreciates with time, like a fine wine that gets better over the years. It's not just a place to call your own; it's a tangible investment in your future. This investment can serve as a source of financial security, a nest egg for retirement, or a means to fund other important life goals.

So, whether you're just starting your homeownership journey or considering making the switch from renting, remember that homeownership has the potential to significantly enhance your financial well-being. It's an investment that not only provides a sense of pride and stability but also paves the way for a brighter and more secure future. 🏡💰✨
